Don’t discount Jake’s loyalty to Bob Chesney. And, he can be close to 100% confident that he will be starting and at some other place or another coach, maybe not. As for NFL, if he attracted interest while playing for HC, he sure will at JMU. Love this take. A lot of people aren't giving enough weight to the relationship between Dobbs and Chesney. Chesney said many times that football is more than X's and O's; it's about relationships. Chesney is a REAL person, what you see is what you get, and that resonates with kids. This is another reason why Sluka is VERY seriously considering JMU.

This is another reason why Sluka is VERY seriously considering JMU. A person in Dobbs' position is somewhat expendable to their new program..they are only there one year so they aren't being built around. If the program tanks, or someone wildly and unexpectedly impresses the coaches, they conceivably could be cast aside. Relationships matter...whatever Chesney has told Jake about his playing time next year, he can virtually bank that promise....he can't do that with other programs.

Not his smartest move - IMHO. In state tuition, room and board is about $20,000. He is giving himself a shot at the Big 10. I am not going to criticize him.

No disrespect to Smith. Purdue isn’t using NIL money on Stu. At least not yet.

No disrespect to Smith. Purdue isn’t using NIL money on Stu. At least not yet. Also interesting that he didn’t generate much interest, judging from his recent social media history…

No disrespect to Smith. Purdue isn’t using NIL money on Stu. At least not yet. Utah is giving vehicles to female gymnasts so I think Purdue might have enough for football players....

I agree. Just not Stu Smith. Not yet anyway. Not every kid gets NIL money. He’s a PWO.

I am so curious about Sluka - wondering if he really has serious P4 offers - if so, I doubt they’re just going to hand him the keys to an offense with no serious preseason competition

I am so curious about Sluka - wondering if he really has serious P4 offers - if so, I doubt they’re just going to hand him the keys to an offense with no serious preseason competition LSU might hand him the keys to a new Maserati with their NIL dollars! I imagine the hold up for him is the competition and what schools will give him the best shot at winning the starting job (or one where he won't really have to compete for it). JMU fans on Twitter are still holding out hope

I agree. Just not Stu Smith. Not yet anyway. Not every kid gets NIL money. He’s a PWO. He will get a small amount of NIL to cover costs. This is common place now. No one said he'll be raking in millions.

Shorter officially returning! Nice win for Curran and don’t underestimate the role Joe P played here. Officially ZERO players in the portal POST a coaching change. Might be the first since team since the portal era. Good research for later.

Given Friday’s huge NCAA decision there is more and more competition in the portal.
“BREAKING: College Football Announces Multi-Time Transfers Who Enter the Portal This Offseason will be Eligible to Play at New University for 2024 Season Without Waiver”
We’ll see to what extent that impacts guys like Sluka.

Great to hear Shorter’s coming back. We should see more of a vertical passing game next year.

Glad to hear Justin is back....many of us here have the wisdom of old(er) age and know how forgoing an HC diploma after your Jr year would not be the wisest decision long-term.....kudos to Justin and others who may have helped him make this decision.
Looking forward to Justin and Sir Charles terrorizing opponents secondaries next year!
Merry Christmas all!

Yikes, that's quite a Christmas gift. Don't forget Mulally, Youngblood, Mosey, and Ali Cason. Thanks, it didn't make sense to me but I thought he was gone.
