Probably not. A small step up, but a step up nonetheless.

Our previous coach just got hired by an FBS program. NEC coaches don't get hired by FBS programs. So, don't think it's a lateral move by Curran.

Did Merrimack lose a lot of players to the portal over the past few years? Did Coach Curran bring in many transfers?

NUNCIO wanted the job and is gutted
I wish HCDC the absolute best. The northern NJ Catholic HS pipeline was there for the taking.

Time to fill out the staff.....Keeping James onboard would be massive. Wondering if Curran will stick to calling the plays here at HC

I think the Northern NJ parochial school recruiting pipeline is huge for HC. On Merrimack's website it says Curran's primary recruiting responsibility was Maryland, Washington D.C, and Virginia. I hope he has or will have someone who can keep that Northern NJ pipeline going.

Some here may have been aware of the fact that Coach Curran has 8 years of pro football experience but were you aware of the actual timeline? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Curran
1997–2000 University of New Hampshire 2001 Nashville Kats (Arena Football) 2002–2003 Georgia Force (Arena Football) 2004, 2007 New Orleans VooDoo (Arena Football) 2004 New Orleans Saints (NFL) 2008–2009 Seattle Seahawks (NFL)
What does this indicate?
IMO, 1. True love of the game and 2. Mental, physical and emotional toughness and discipline to be able to make the NFL in 2004 with the Saints and then make it back into the league in 2008 with the Seahawks. That says a lot to me about who DC is as a person in terms of his determination and drive.
If he had made the league straight out of college and then was not ready to give it up and bounced around Arena Football that would indicate to me a decline in skills. His path is decidedly different. I sense that DC is an underdog and a fighter.
I like him even more.

I would wait to see the dust settle on who is staying and who is going. DiMike is the only coach that has changed his Twitter profile to JMU so far.

I wanna see some really good hype videos promoting the new coach and the future of HC football soon. The media team has done a really good job in the past.

When can we expect the presser? Guessing Monday, since today and this weekend he's probably busy meeting with the team, recruits, putting a team together, etc.

Seems like a good hire, but I would have preferred someone who had played at or coached at a high academic school, like the guy Columbia just hired. How will our new coach deal with the HC admissions office?

How will our new coach deal with the HC admissions office? Recruiting will be a big question mark. Type of recruit going to HC is different than Merrimack. It's small & subtle, but CDC's social media game is non-existent...Chesney was a master & that matters.

NUNCIO wanted the job and is gutted I wish HCDC the absolute best. The northern NJ Catholic HS pipeline was there for the taking. I thought he was a strong candidate, and I'm sure Kit did. I've become more sensitive to the (over)use of the term and perception of "pipeline" I just want the best guys nationally that we can. Curran's unique appeal to NE candidates or his NFL background or contacts in metro DC will serve us well. Leveraging off of FCBC's success with a stronger brand should showcase his talents. BC clearly did much better recruiting higher level talent to HC than where he left. That's natural. I'm fine and maybe we'll head off the usual day one/two discussion of "how long will he be here until he leaves" stuff. I think it's healthy to discuss the things we like or worry about with our hires and I know you were simply expressing your mild disappointment over a candidate who didn't get the job rather than concerns that the new coach isn't up to the task.
