I know we aren’t the most talented, but what are we doing out there?
Some absolutely awful turnovers and passes tonight. Should be day one stuff.

More PT for Wills and Singleton?
Wills seems to be more of an offensive threat than Williams.

The good news is that all of the other 4-6 teams lost.
Tied for fifth at 4-7!

Wills was recruited as a point guard, every time he gets on the floor, he produces. I think his opportunity is limited, I wonder why he’s being hidden

Last time out was a close loss at Hart. Kind of a broken record, but one of the frosh is going to need to step up and have a big game. Next 3 games against the top 3 teams. Getting even one win in this stretch could go a long ways to avoiding the play-in game I dunno. I guess "avoiding" a play-in game is something to strive for, but with where we are as a program right now, a play-in game is an opportunity for a win. Something to be said for getting two games and splitting then rather than being one and done. HC hasn't qualified for the quarter-finals since 2019. One advantage to avoiding the play in game is that you're guaranteed to reach a low threshold this program hasn't seen in a while ASSUMING you win a play-in game it does have the advantage of giving a young squad an extra game's experience in a "win or go home" scenario

70 more turnovers than our opponents for all games. 10% lower free throw percentage than opponents. Definitely things that must improve, hopefully the rest of the way but certainly next year.

We always knew this year was gonna be rough. Here are my thoughts at this point....we beat Georgetown and I really like the potential of this freshmen class. I wrote this season off a while ago. Excited to see further growth of the freshmen and very excited to see the new crop next year who look to be quite talented. Go Cross!

I suspect the biggest hurdle for frosh and perhaps sophs, is the adjustment to defending against D1 players. Since next year's squad shapes up as having 9 scholarship players in those 2 classes, defense may still be an issue.

I think one of DP's very early comments was the team has to learn how not to lose games. He had a good point that many games are lost through your own mistakes, not necessarily because your opponent was a superior team. The little things add-up although I don't think boxing out, taking care of the ball and making free throws are that little.

HC FT% at .653 is up from .622 last season. Some progress. Meanwhile up the road at UMass the FT% is down from .716 last season to .698 this season.

We aren't winning any games when Octave only plays 11 minutes (I'd argue he'd have been better off not playing, as he hurt more than helped when on the floor) and Bo goes 1-9 FG.
I'd like to see more of Wills and Singleton, who combined for only 29 minutes last night.

Leone's 72 years old- was their coach when HC entered the PL. Some would call him a “Youngster” 😊 Leone was almost certainly the worst coach in patriot league history. In his five years in the PL, LC had a league record of 15-53, with many of the wins over an equally weak army team. In his final season, before getting fired, LC was winless in the patriot league and 1–27 overall, having managed to beat a weak Columbia team early in the year. unfortunately he is no better as a color man than he was as a coach. He is never prepared and doesn’t seem to understand the game very well at all. Unfortunately, his announcing partner is no better.

Team free throw shooting has improved because last year Gerrale Gates took about 40% of the total free throws and shot only .576. This year Joe Octave has taken about 30% of our free throws and he has improved to a solid .712 from the line. Caleb has made progress from .409 to ,551, still sub-optimal but better than making 4 of 10. Bo is about the same.as last season. Louth was 2 for 2 last season but has been an unfathomable 13 for 32 this year. Our best FT shooters, Batch and AJ, don't often get to the line. I think Declan Ryan will priove to be a good FT shooter but he has not played a lot of minutes.

Totally agree about Wills and Singleton; if I recall they played really well together in the Harvard game.
