Critical weekend coming up against second-place Sacred Heart.
A five-point weekend means that we control our own destiny for earning the #2 seed.
We've won five-straight AHA games at the Hart. Certainly feels like we are peaking at the right time, after a slow start in league play.
Friday is Senior night -- hope we get a sell out for that one. The seniors deserve it.

The $70 Martire Family Arena at SHU is beautiful. Sacred Heart has a nationally ranked Figure Skating team that uses it also. It won't give the Pioneers any greater home ice advantage than HC has at the $700,000(?) Hart Center Arena but the SHU development team deserves praise. Most colleges are striving to engage with donor families to produce signature facilities like this and SHU pulled it off.

Home ice advantage really comes down to pregame facilities and the crowd supporting the team. They had some good crowds when they first opened the building. Over 4000 for opening night vs Colgate. Averaging 3,100 with a capacity of 3,600. HC only averaging 946, but we have seen a couple incredible crowds, which really buoyed the team. RIT has a huge home ice advantage with their band and student section a la Hockey East. www.uscho.com/stats/attendance/division-i-men/

Mrs. NY Crusader due Monday with our son so I'll 100% be watching from home, unless he decides to come a couple days early.

SHU has a $70 million palace and deserves great praise. HC has a $700,000(?) utilitarian arena. But if HC students and band gets behind the Crusaders with a near capacity or capacity crowd wouldn't the home ice advantage be the same at both rinks? A capacity or near capacity crowd and band should have an equivalent effect at both venues.

The roof is low enough at the Hart that the sound reverberates. The BC exhibition game last year and the Air Force game last week were quite loud. At the BC game, you could hear everyone loudly chanting "f*** BC." When I was a student, the band almost never went to a men's hockey game. Now it appears to be a part of their regular schedule. Home ice for us could be key as fans do show up for the big games.

But a home team skater really can't get 3-4x more pumped and jacked at his place than another home team skater at his place. If we used heart rate as the common measure, SHU players would be dropping like flies on the ice.🙂

Will all come down to goaltending this week-end. Hopefully, Grande steps to the plate! Forwards need to "Cash In" on their opportunities. Hoping for BIG week-end. Teams are pretty evenly matched.

Within 7 seconds of a shutout. Impressive 5-1 win..congratulations. Nice to get a win over a team in a contest that was seen by some as a toss-up. How was the crowd?

Huge win against a team right in front of us in the standings. Think we are a point back. Look for SHU to bounce back tomorrow but goaltending for us will be key in holding that charge.
1300 at the Hart would seem like almost a sellout but 1300 in a 3600 barn probably looks a little empty.

Great game for HC. Grande played very well, controlled rebounds well. Forward "Cashed In" on opportunities. Need a better game tomorrow to sweep SH. I am sure they are getting lambasted by their coach. Need to handle their pressure as I am sure they will come out like gamebusters. Hold down the fort for 5-10 minutes. Sweep will just about secure 2nd place. Good luck to them!

Tonight SGU had more shots, more shots on goal (although pretty even most of the way). At the SHU rink the same numbers might bring a different result unless the HC goalie stays sharp. Grande was a big difference tonight.
