Probably a dumb question, but could it be just to give the winning team 1 extra hour for travel/prep for the quarterfinal? Nope. It is simply that Army plays all of their weekday home games at 6 PM. The other play-in game at Navy starts at 7 PM. I don’t think other men’s teams use 6 PM starts, but a number of PL women’s teams start their games at 6 PM. They have found that the majority of their fans prefer a 6 PM start to a 7 PM start. I don’t think that’s the case on the men’s side in many places, however.

Everything (games, stores, restaurants etc) seems to start and end earlier today than back in the day. My varsity games as a player in HS in the early '80s didn't tip off until 7:30....and I remember going to restaurants with friends and/or families after those games and not leaving the restaurant etc until almost 11....can't do that as much today outside of the major cities. When did we become such an "early-bird" society as opposed to a "night-owl" one?

The Saturday night games in the late 60's at the Worcester Auditorium sometimes didn't tip off until 8:15 or 8:30 PM.

Pregame with Bob Gamere on WTAG began at 8:15. I think the frosh game was at 6:30 but I could be wrong.

I recall weeknight games at the Aud also starting at 8:30 very often

It's odd....somewhere along the way, we stopped being a "late-night" society.

I can’t stay up for 8:30 games even when watching from my couch.

Games take a lot longer to play today compared to the 60’s and 70’s.. the games now have 8 tv time outs, 3 minutes each I think. Plus all the reviews! Games in the early 70’s started at 7:30 and were finished before 9!

I think Sunday I'd want the 4pm game (vs 2pm) with the clocks changing the night before....or maybe young people don't get as messed up as us seniors.

Easier to start the last game a little earlier if you're playing only two games instead of 3

When did we become such an "early-bird" society as opposed to a "night-owl" one?I think that the answer is work life.. With apologies to Dolly Parton, do you know anyone who works 9-5 anymore? I am happy to see clients as early as they want to come to the office. I had blood work this morning at 7:00 am and there were people who were already walking out when I arrived. On the other hand, I went to PC at UConn at Gampel several weeks ago. It was a weekday 8:30 start with 46 fouls and 62 free throws. It didn't end until after 11 pm. Get out, get out of the lot, drive home and it was way past my bed time when I have to get up at 5:30 to walk the dog. Oh, and you don't have to stay up til 11 to watch your favorite television show anymore. Watch it whenever you want, now.

Of course, that 8:30 start time, as well as all power 6 game times are determined by TV/cable schedules.

I would ASSUME that 8 vs 9 in a conference tournament is pretty much a coin flip - unless one team presents a special match up problem for the other one

The Tuesday games would be opposite with Varsity early, frosh and/or JV later. This is to encourage attendance at the Varsity games.

They have to do a better job guarding TJ Small; he was the leading scorer for Army in both games. Above all, if HC is going to take 30 3 pointers, they had better make more than 5 of them.

That 30 attempts was a bit of an aberration. In the first game with them, we took 21, which was our season average. Let’s hope tonight’s attempts are closer to the 21.

This seems like a low bar:!when its opponent makes more than 30% of its three point attempts Army is 0-17. Not a typo. Can we make 7 or 8 of 20 or 21 attempts?
Holy Cross, as others have noted, had sub-optimal success from 3 Land in two games versus Army but over all we are a decent to good three point shooting team with multiple weapons. HC hit threes at better than that 30% mark in 22 of 31 games. I wouldn’t want to bet the farm on HC if we make, say, 33% of our threes so let’s hit 40%. Of course that’s only one part of the equation but obviously an important one
