I sort of liked the short lived experiment from close to 20 years ago, when they split up the tournament into 2 league site pods (HC hosted one). I believe they played the quarters and semis at the 2 sites, then the highest overall seed hosted the final (I might not have this completely accurate). It at least gave off a bit of tournament vibe, while still rewarding regular season performance. Joe Knight dropped in 45 points against Colgate at the Hart during the 2005 PLT. Hart Center scoring record? That was an incredible performance by Knight; he was chucking up shots from everywhere. I think Jimmy McCaffrey has the Hart record, with 46 (and 15 assists) in a game against a very good Iona team. Think he was named SIs player of the week.

It's harder than it was a few years ago, the bigs have more league games themselves and the number of holiday tournaments has decreased dramatically. The tournaments have been replaced by a bunch of things that typically don't pay much attention to the lower echelons of D1 basketball. We are in the misery loves company segment of D-1. The same in-breeding between Northeast low majors every season.🙂 Still plenty of meat on the bone in the region. We have 4 more league games now ourselves than we did in 2008. Fairfield, Siena, Vermont, Merrimack, Iona, UMass-Amherst, Fordham, URI, Albany, Northeastern, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Brown, Bryant, Quinnipiac, UNH -- I have no problem getting any of these fellow low to mid majors on our schedule on a semi-regular basis.

Is there a suitable arena in Atlantic City for the PLT? Mohegan Sun has one. It would only make sense if a host casino(s) generously subsidized it as I assume is being done in Vegas. This would be sparsely attended. Awful idea. The MAAC plays their tournament at Boardwalk Hall in AC and attendance isn't great. The MAAC having it in AC this year dates back to them throwing Monmouth a bone when they joined. And now they're gone. The MAAC should just stay in Albany every year but no one likes that Siena gets huge home court advantage so they switch it up every 3 or 4 years for that reason. They've done Buffalo, Springfield, Bridgeport and now AC. Mohegan probably would fit the mold too now that they have another New England team coming in Merrimack.

Unfortunately, Siena has hit the skids, that's one program in that league that there's usually interest for.

Yes, Siena is #357 in kenpom. So bad that the MAAC took away their annual home court advantage by putting the tournament in Boardwalk Hall.
(And, yes, I know the two are unrelated)
