Congratulations to all the players and coaches on an expected - if I dare use this term - home win. I saw great effort by everyone out there tonight, even if the execution wasn't always desirable. We need to keep the momentum going and build on each outing.

on a rainy - windy night on the east coast, what do you think the average fan would have thought if he/she came across our game while channel-surfing. ugly, boring basketball in front of a quiet crowd, fit for only those with a connection to either AU or HC. hey. i'm happy with the win that puts us over .500 on the season but i'm not feeling confident that this team is starting to gel.

- I'll put this win in the category of doing what they were supposed to do. They got a home win against a team that looks like it will be near the bottom of the standings. This coming week will be more of a chance to get excited. Two road games against what looks like middle of the pack teams. Winning one of these two games would go a long way towards pushing HC towards the upper echelon of the league. Classes starting and two long trips to Maryland won't leave a lot of practice time this week, just to make this two game stretch a little more challenging. Perhaps the in-flight movie could be game film
- Even when Champion isn't shooting well, he finds a way to contribute. He is a heady ball player who's frequently at the right place at the right time
- LeSann came off his big game with a cameo. I didn't notice a mess-up that got him hooked. Either that was just the planned rotation or something happened that I just missed. I'm beginning to wonder if Zignorski and LeSann are going to be used as the same role with Ziggy getting the first half and LeSann getting the second half

The Eagles were in the bonus and we were not yet close to it.

Another factor in LeSann's limited time - American played man pretty much all night. I think CLS, at this point anyway, will be more helpful vs. zones.

Correct ZERO chance I watch this game is I'm not an HC or AU fan The views of the stands are so depressing. I have NO true information,......none. But I don't like the way Champion was holding that shoulder throughout the game. He grabbed it after a stumble under the basket and would "shake it out" before each foul shot. I think he is hurting.

Another poor shooting night (1-6 FG, 8-12 FT) would suggest that there's something up here. He's now one for his last 16 on 3PT attempts. The entire PL season has been a struggle for Champ.

It made me wonder if that was planned from the staff to get him off to a good start. A couple of minutes later, he was a little slow on a rotation that led to an open 2 that American hit. He was out at the next whistle. In all fairness, prior to that, he was in a hot corner and was doing a lot of rotating and doing just fine. Three and a half possessions of solid D can get forgotten after a noticeable lapse

Wasn't a pretty game, but both teams running similar sets on offense leads to that ugliness..Every time an HC player would start a backcut one of the AU assistants would yell "backcut", both teams new basically what the other was going to run and had practiced against it everyday! RC is beat up a little, shoulder, ankle, bone spur, he did seem to move better last night than he has in the last few games..I heard he didn't practice since the Army game, and it showed in his shot..
I thought MH getting in foul trouble was a big factor in our lack of offense. He stretches the D and opens up the lane..JF can't do that, MA does when he is the 5 and we go small..MH never got into the flow in the 2nd half..We had 6 fast break points, I'm surprised we don't score more with all the tips and steals our D creates..
Snow and WIND when I left the game last..nasty weather, lost power during the night, when is the team heading to Baltimore?

Taking 34 ft is impressive, especially in a slow paced game. This was a season high by 6. Making only 24 is not, but both numbers easily surpassed AU's 5-12. Statistically speaking that was the difference in the game. We had only a total of 18 fg, 3 of these were threes

first game in awhile were I didn't feel too nervous in second half. As to how it looked on TV, the picture quality was excellent and both the brightness of the gym and the new floor showed up great. the poor attendance on the other hand . . . .

Not to be snarky, but the average fan would have thought that we are no longer "in the entertainment business" as someone oft quoted here once said.
I was able to DVR the game so I can see the offensive sets develop without the distraction of anxiety. A tremendous amount of activity on defense on the part of the Cross. Not so many deep in the shot clock heaves. Some really good looks which were not made but that is life.

Statistically speaking that was the difference in the game. We had only a total of 18 fg, 3 of these were threes American went into intentional foul mode with about 3 1/2 minutes to go. Seemed kind of early to me. Using that strategy so early greatly inflated the free throw numbers.

Watched the whole game on TV... here are some impressions: -- Offensive tempo, ball movement, and basket cutting/attacking was better today than I have seen or read about recently. We got out on some fast breaks and getting good defensive rebounds will do that for a team. -- Our 1-3-1 defense played high and did some light trapping at the top of the key with the strong side wing defender. We had a TON of steals, but a lot of those passes were truly awful by American. I'm not sure how much of that I would attribute to our strong defense, or their bad offense... probably a mix of both. We accompanied a particular ugly series of plays by American with some botches of our own... it seemed that we may have lost focus when the game got sloppy, but took better care of the ball and went on a nice run to distance ourselves. -- Charles could be one of my favorite offensive players on this team, but he needs to improve on defense still quite a bit. Move those feet! -- RC must be injured (I am only speculating) because he looked compromised out on the floor tonight. Shots were short, and he was a step behind on defense. -- We shot a ton of free throws because American decided early that they were going to foul us and make us win from the line with something like 2-3 minutes left. The last couple of minutes of the game took about 30 minutes in real life, it seemed. We still bricked a few... I'd like to see us shoot those at a much higher percentage. -- MA is solid on the offensive end. He attacks the basket with purpose, even without the best "moves" in the post. Hit some top of the key 3s and showed his versatility. -- American is not the same American from 2004-2008 when I was at HC. Yikes, I feel sorry for their fans, this team is in rough shape (using one game to judge). Their best scorer didn't get involved at all really until the game was basically over. -- Mo Cassara doing color on the TV broadcast waxed poetic about Nate Pine, and the multi million dollar upgrades being made at the Hart. He spoke to the quality and loyalty of our alums to help fund such a project, and said that the Hart is the nicest facility he's seen. He mentioned that after citing his years as a coach in the A10 or MAAC (both? I don't follow those leagues...). Then again, he also mentioned that our upgrades were being done at the hockey rink too so they may not know what the hell they are talking about

Mo talked to Pine, Pine must have mentioned some improvement to the hockey rink. He also characterized the athletic complex improvements as way above a mid-major college level

He also characterized the athletic complex improvements as way above a mid-major college level Forgot that part, but I noted it at the time. Paraphrasing, he said that these are not the trappings of a mid-major program, HC is not a mid-major program. At first I was appreciative of the sales job he was trying to make given his Worcester association... but it quickly moved into over-the-top.... kind of like watching Jimmy Fallon interview a celebrity.

Mo said he has coached in the A10 and the ACC and the HC facilities will compare favorably when they're done. He was "blown away" by what HC is doing.

HC's NFH is something that you'd find on a Power Five campus: Oregon State, Maize and Blue, HC. As for hoops, 10 separate offices for coaches, two conference rooms, a reception area, a 550 square foot film viewing room, spacious team locker rooms with what appears to be two lounge areas, coaches locker rooms, etc. I can see why Mo would be impressed.

How far back do the architectural drawings for this facility go?

How far back do the architectural drawings for this facility go? The architectural drawings only go back two years or so. Remember, Fr. M's / DR's field house was much different than Fr. B's / NP's version.
