To give credit where it is due, the Athletics Office under ADNP is 180 degrees from where we were only a few years ago.
You boys do remember that, don't you?

No doubt that Kalif has shown he can more than hold his own in this league. If the Broncos do put him on the practice squad, I am willing to bet that another team will look to bring him on and that this time he will go. Unlike last year when the Jets made noise about signing him and Kalif indicated he wanted to stay with Denver. Kubiak seemed to really like Kalif. Vance Joseph's preemptive decision may give Kalif more motivation than he already possessed.
I think we will be seeing plenty of Kalif this fall.

There is a reason why 160 Crusaders from Classes 1963 through 2017 gathered this past Monday at our golf event. It wasn't the golf . . . especially given the conditions.
These Crusaders came in from CA, FL, PA, OH, MI, IL, and up and down the Atlantic coast.

This was sent yesterday to the faithful:
Fellow Crusaders,
The weather may have dampened the golf but it certainly did not dampen the spirits of the faithful at Hopkinton CC yesterday. THANK YOU again to all who were in attendance -- especially those who came from a distance to make the day so special -- and all who sponsored the event. I want to especially thank the members of the Golf Committee and the staff and student-athletes from campus who worked the event. THANK YOU.
We not only raised very meaningful funds (~85k) for the program but we also continue to raise expectations in terms of the impact that the Friends of Crusader Football can have in elevating Holy Cross Football to ever greater heights. That does not happen without the support of all of you. I hope you will care to spread the word to your fellow classmates/teammates not currently on board and encourage them to attend/support in the future.
Special thanks to Heather Palmer (and best wishes to her in her new role at UMass) and fellow FoCF co-chair Spenser Huston for his special delivery in honoring our fellow African American brethren with the 2017 Jackie Mo' Award. How special was that.
Personally I have not often been more proud to be a Crusader than to see our fellow Crusaders receive that recognition along with the remarks by Joe Wilson, Mark Cannon, and Rod Deleaver. That was awesome.
I hope you all enjoy the balance of the summer and that I will see many of you throughout the fall (UConn, Ring of Honor, Homecoming and more) when the Crusaders take the field.
Let's Win!!
LD
P.S. Please circle next June 18th when we will hopefully have some sunny skies for our event.

I remain the great beneficiary in being able to share the good news with those being inducted or close family members. I can tell you the emotions connected with this honor are incredibly deep. I will never forget the remarks made by Joe Wilson as he recounted his formative years growing up on a farm in North Carolina or Vince Promuto's taking us for a walk down memory lane in The Bronx prior to matriculating at this college on a hill where the Jesuits took him under their wing. I treasure a note that I will save forever from Bullet Bill Osmanski's wife Mary back in 2010 in which she wrote, "We are all so proud to know that Bill was selected to be in the inaugural Ring of Honor at Holy Cross. It would have meant so much to him. His success in life was all based on what he learned at Holy Cross and he believed that."
That concluding remark has been echoed one way or another by every individual who has been inducted into the Ring of Honor. Special place and special people this Holy Cross.
I hope many who frequent these parts will join us on campus for this year's RoH reception, tailgate, and induction ceremony on September 16th when the Crusaders take on UNH.
Let's Win!!

Bump . . .
Voting ends on Monday the 15th. I am pleased to have received many personal messages from recent Crusader graduates who have studied the bios of these nominees and commented on their accomplishments, including this remark:
"I was torn between the two LBs on the list, McCabe and McGovern for the 1970-present list. McCabe ended up getting the vote though. What a stud, was 22 shy of a 200 tackle season in 1985. They played 11 games that season; he averaged over 16 tackles a game. Wow."

Great to see the enthusiasm for this fabulous program. With a full ten days left for the public voting hopefully this excitement grows so that we receive a significant public vote. Without getting into any specifics of confidential committee meetings, I can share with you that each and every topic broached on the board has been addressed and discussed by the committee over the years. We are always trying to make this program the best it can possibly be. We certainly appreciate the efforts of AD Nate Pine, Joe Bertoletti, Heather Palmer et al to further enhance the special nature of the actual day and the program at large. The stadium and Fitton Field have a great look and feel with the displays connected to the Ring of Honor. Major thanks to the Kingsley family for their support.
The Ring of Honor was initiated in 2010. As I think anybody who has been to the morning reception and induction ceremony might attest, the emotions on display make it a very special day that leaves a long lasting positive impression for everybody involved. Not that every day is not a great day to be a Crusader but the Ring of Honor induction is simply one of the best.

It is time once again to embrace and elevate the great tradition of Holy Cross Crusader Football with the public voting component for the Ring of Honor!! Thanks to the members of the committee and Crusader alumni and fans everywhere who have made this such a great program. Special thanks once again to Ron Maheu '64 who had the wisdom and vision for this undertaking. I encourage fans of all ages to click on the links below and read about the exploits and accomplishments of these stellar Crusaders who distinguished themselves while wearing the Purple. Special thanks to AD Nate Pine and the Kingsley family who have taken the Ring of Honor to an incredible level with the displays of pride and tradition highlighting the Ring of Honor at Fitton Field.
In the fall of 2017, the College of the Holy Cross will honor the eighth class in the Crusader Football Legends Ring of Honor. Each of the inductees will be honored during a ceremony at Fitton Field with permanent recognition in the stadium. This year's Ring of Honor inductions will take place during the New Hampshire game on Sept. 16.
The players to be honored will be chosen by a special committee as well as fan voting. The committee includes representatives from the Holy Cross Athletic Department, the Friends of Crusader Football Executive Committee, the Holy Cross Varsity Club and the Holy Cross Development Office. Fan voting will account for a small percentage of the final tally.
From now until 4:00 p.m. on May 15, fans will be able to vote from among the semifinalists selected by the committee from the two different eras: 1896-1969 and 1970-present. Click on the link below to vote for the players from each era, or click on a player's name below to view biographical information on that individual.

No doubt that the college is utilizing the shield with interlocking HC to promote the brand. In doing so, IMO, we need to instill and embrace the mentality within this phrase in order to develop and then elevate the culture needed for long term success.
The Friends of Crusader Football have already adopted this phrase within our Mission Statement : "A commitment to excellence in helping the Crusaders win on and off the field as embodied within the ancient Greek rallying cry, η ΤΑΝ Η ΕΠΙ ΤΑΣ."

A few questions regarding the Golf outing. Can anyone play? How would I get information regarding the event? Singles paired up or is a foursome needed? '86 . . . thanks for sharing the color on this event and on the golf outing in July. Always great getting together with Crusaders covering close to a 70 year time frame and welcoming the expected graduates into the Friends of Crusader Football family. In doing so, we also celebrated the accomplishments of many recent grads who are already out there 'killing it' and blazing the trail for future generations of Crusaders. Thanks to Glenn Verrette '80 for hosting the event in a fabulous venue. Heather Palmer, head of the Crusader Athletics Fund, once again distinguished herself. Her efforts on behalf of the cause are deeply appreciated. The upcoming grads were given two takeaways: 1. Read and embrace the Grant and Glueck Focus Report that reviews two groups of men and subsequent generations going back 75 years. For those not aware of this report, the attached link gives a nice synopsis, captured in this one line: "The clearest message that we get from this 75-year study is this: Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. Period.".
2. Appreciate that all they really need to know in life, they were taught in kindergarten and now simply need to apply it. How so? Elevate and accentuate in a positive fashion these self-explanatory concepts: A = Attitude, E = Engage, I = Information, O = Ownership , U = Understanding Newsaderdad, we will post details of the golf event here at Crossports but please feel free to drop me a line at lwdoyle128@aol.com with your contact email so we can get you on the distribution. That offer goes to everybody who frequents these parts. η ΤΑΝ Η ΕΠΙ ΤΑΣ

Sent this along to folks in Fenwick and O' Kane:
Has there been any dialogue as to whether the college might want to take an alumni survey on this topic? I have to believe a fairly basic online survey could be developed and shared with the alumni who could then offer their thoughts and opinions.
Just an idea and one I think would be well received. I also think if a decision is made unilaterally on campus without alumni input that it would not be well received.
