If we gave Albany the ball back with time for two plays and they scored a touchdown, would we be criticizing FHCTG for kneeling the ball? You could argue the way in which Albany scored was a lower probability than them going 75 yards in two plays on offense. From what I recall there were probably 10-20 people still posting at 2am after it happened. You could be right about the probability. Personally, I think it's more likely to have something go wrong like a fumble or a blocked kick or snap over the head of the holder than it is to go 75 yards in one or two plays without any time outs. And hypothetically if they did pull out some type of immaculate reception or something similar to what Boise State did to Oklahoma in the 07' Fiesta bowl then you tip your hat to their creativity and execution. At least you had a strategic purpose for making the call. The other thing is there was no one behind pujals and Guild. They should have at least put their best open field tackler ten yards behind just in case. That being said it's easy to criticize when watching from the couch. As Fouracre would say "You can call it Monday but the coaches are going to have to make the call right now."

Just watched it again. 3rd and 7 on the 21 yard line. .58 on the clock and the pbp announcer says "play clock down to six" and they snap the ball.
Let the play clock tick down to one second and take a knee. On 4th down, let it tick down to one second and take a knee or roll out and kill a few seconds and throw it out of bounds. They'll have one play, maybe two to go 75 yards. If they can do that then they deserve to win.

Let’s start a poll: Who’s worse, the announcers or the cameramen? What's worse, our pass coverage or the camera coverage?

The kicker was forcefully contacted while in the air and knocked down. That can't be running into. It's either roughing or nothing. To be blocked into, the force of the block must be toward the kicker and that's what causes the contact. Had the blocker kept his hands on the defender and pushed him toward the kicker, that would be blocked into. But he didn't. The blocker pushed the defender toward the side. That definitely altered the defender's path and he ended up hitting the kicker. But it was the defender's own momentum that took him into the kicker. Also worth noting that the contact happened several yards in front of the kicker.
Chesney is never reluctant to complain about calls. He didn't say a word. It was a bad play by his own player, We can see from the video that we had return set up, not punt block. We should get the ball back on Harvard's side of midfield. No reason for the defender to go for the block in that situation.
goholycross.com/watch/?Archive=1222&type=ArchiveYou didn’t watch the post game interview? He addresses it and calls BS. It was close. Looks like they really like playing at Polar Park.

HC down to 12th in FCS poll. Harvard is 19. North Dakota State drops to 8. It's probably been nearly a decade since they've been that low.

With regard to the upcoming coaches poll, my guess is a 12-14 ranking.
Idaho, Furman, Sacramento State, Incarnate Word, Southern Illinois, Delaware and North Carolina Central will move ahead. Bill and Mary will stay in front of them. Harvard should be ranked higher. They weren't properly ranked at #24.
Western Carolina and Chattanooga may begin to move up significantly. North Dakota Sioux (losses against Boise and SD State) might move ahead.

Ok, I guess you and I were watching a different game. Okay one last try- we scored zero points on the five possessions where we turned over the ball. How many points did we average on the possessions where we did not have a turnover? Multiply by five Did we have the lead at any point during the game?

You believe we could have won that game if not for the turnovers? Isn’t that the logical conclusion? Ok, I guess you and I were watching a different game.

And by the way, regarding the turnovers, give some credit to Harvard for forcing those turnovers. We weren't that sloppy, they were that good.

Harvard 0 turnovers Holy Cross 5 turnovers That's the game right there. Oddly enough, I think had we not roughed the punter and gotten the ball back at midfield with around 11 minutes left and down 35-21, we find a way to win the game. Isn't this the story of the game? I don't see where "Harvard kicked our butts" or that we were "dominated".
Total Yardage HC 468 Harvard= 360
Rushing-yards per carry HC= 4.1 Harvard= 4.3
Passing- Yards per attempt HC= 12.3 Harvard= 7.6
I know there are other elements of the game--special teams, penalties, field position, etc, but it sure looks to me that the turnovers (weren't we top 10 in FCS last year in turnover margin?) are what cost us the game. You believe we could have won that game if not for the turnovers?

Everyone please stop whining about Polar Park. Harvard is a much better football team. They kicked our ass at Polar Park and they would have kicked our ass at Fitton. Our young D-line got steamrolled by their O-line all game. They had receivers wide open all game. Their coaches figured out Sluka at halftime and shut him down the rest of the game. Going forward every D-Coordinator we play against will be studying this film and implementing the Harvard gameplan. I agree with the spirit of what you say, but 10 points is hardly an "ass kicking." Harvard wss better tonight, but not "much better" unless helped out by our errors. Without them, this is a different game. I don't know that sny of gthe teams we will play have the talent and luck neded to implement that game plan. Murphy had the better of Chesney tonight, but i doubt he will be coaching any of our future opponents. Forget the ten points. Their defense completely shut down our offense in the second half and their offense dominated our defense the entire game. They beat the crap out of us. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but that's what I saw.

Silver lining, we will roll in the PL after this fiasco....probably cost us a seed though unless we beat Army and things break right. They're not getting a seed.
