Many HC fans will remember that Shoniker was the #1 reason why Avery LaBarbera committed to Canisius. Then when Canisius fired their head coach, with Shoniker being collateral damage, LaBarbera decommitted.

Choosing not to wait until Billy Donovan ends his Bulls season. Kentucky chooses alum Mark Pope of BYU, a polar opposite of Calipari. The carousel continues. Portal numbers and decommits will grow. Several report said that Donovandid not have any interest in returning to college coaching.

As is often the case, the NCAA has its own rules. From the 2023 Women's Lacrosse rule book SECTION 1. The playing area shall be rectangular and marked with a solid lined boundary. Optimal field dimensions shall be 60 meters (65 yards) in width and 110 meters (120 yards) in total length, with goals 92 meters (100 yards) apart. The goals shall be placed not more than 92 meters (100 yards) and not less than 82 meters (90 yards) apart, measured from goal line to goal line. There must be 9 meters (10 yards) of space behind each goal line, extending to the end line and running the width of the field. There must be a minimum of 4 meters (4.4 yards) of space between the sideline boundary and the scorer’s/timer’s table. Thanks for agreeing with me.... Actually, both he and the NCAA women’s rules disagreed with you.

I think that it is borderliine unsafe but they wouldn't have scheduled the game if they thought that the referees or opponents were going to complain. The NCAA field dimensions for both men and women are 110 x 60 and, looking at Google Earth, I would say that the field area is probably 135 x 80. I am not sure why people would want to play in front of 22000 empty seats but maybe they think that this is a gimmick to get more people to come to the games. Are students more likely to walk down to Fitton or up to Father K field? Don't they need to worry about the flood plain? Men and women do not play on the same sized field. Women’s lacrosse is played on a slightly bigger field than a men’s field, 120 yards by 70 yards vs. 110 yards by 60 yards. www.usalacrosse.com/sites/default/files/documents/Rules/how-to-line-womens-field-2021.pdfwww.usalacrosse.com/sites/default/files/documents/Rules/how-to-line-mens-field-2021.pdfActually, the optimal women’s dimensions are 120 yards x 65 yards. However, schools are allowed to have smaller dimensions if they don’t have a big enough field, as long as the visiting team is notified in advance.

I'm really curious about this move by Coach Dan. I'm assuming he will get an increase in pay; wonder if he had a prior relationship with Autry (The Basketball Tournament, maybe?). I'm curious because I'm wondering if this might be the start of a trend - sitting low D-1 coaches latching on to a position in the pro-college division of NCAA basketball. Maybe he is as optimistic about the future of low D-1 ball as I am (which is, not very). He also had a couple of really good freshmen hit the portal; maybe that played a part. At any rate, good luck to a good guy. Wish JB a good transition as well. He recruited like crazy to get pretty good players to the Mount, a school of 900 undergraduates, plus grad students and seminary. I think his move was to get away from the day to day pressures of the NIL and portal. A good coach and terrific guy who cares about his craft and his players. MSM’s website says they have 1766 full-time undergraduate students.

Joins her former HS teammate Abby Antognoli, which I suppose was the connection. Doesn't make a lot of sense, transfers to the worst team in the PL this past season. Guess she likes the Lehigh Valley. It makes some sense when you consider that Lafayette is the only patriot league team where she might be able to get playing time. Unfortunately, she kind of plateaued after her sophomore year in high school.

Interesting, if true. Arkansas is a big time program, but not the same level as Kentucky. Seems like moving down the food chain it is moving down the food chain. However, Calipari was on a very hot seat, and might well been fired after next season. Now he locks up a new long-term contract. And he is going to a place where the fans will worship him, as opposed to Kentucky, were most of the fans wanted him fired. I am sure the Kentucky A.D. is ecstatic about this move.

I just tried to find the 4th but couldn't. However I did find two more HC mentions on the Richmond Board, (SPIDERNATION). Both are frosh and seem like real reaches: Rodney Brown Jr. of Cal and Reid Ducharme of Xavier. Lots of interest in both per the Twitter copies. Ducharme is from Milton, MA. Played at Brewster. Both of his parents are Williams grads. His father played football and mother played basketball. And his sister Caroline Ducharme, who has been a good SF for UConn before chronic concussion problems caused her to be shut down for almost the entire year.

Heard Women's Final Four tickets going for a higher price than tickets for the Men's Final Four. Is that true? Great to see the improvement & growth in the women's game. Will it translate to the WNBA? Other than the Caitlin Clark factor, a major factor in driving the price of tickets is that the arena hosting the women’s finals seats a bit over 19,000 people, while the dome hosting the men’s event seats nearly 80,000.

Her father, BTW, is Danny Strong, who was a very good player for NC State.
UConn fans are hoping she is holding off on her decision until Aaliyah Edwards formally announces that she is going to enter the WNBA draft. Thankfully South Carolina, who was one of her semi-finalist, is apparently out of the running.

Fischer was touted as the recruiting guru during Paulsen's tenure at Bucknell, but apparently couldn't recruit for himself. His only successful season was his first, with his predecessor's guys. The Peter Principle strikes again. In Fisher’s successful first season at W&M, three of his five starters were players he recruited after he landed the job: good transfers from Wisconsin (a 7 footer),Milwaukee, and Penn. At that point it looked like he was going to be successful but then things never clicked after that. That’s surprising because he was a fabulous recruiter at Bucknell, being responsible for landing many of their top players.

this could be a useful site. However, using full season statistics makes them worthless, given how large the differences were in OOC schedules between various teams.

Apparently a conflict with a wrestling tournament. BU up a bunch early but AU cuts the lead to 7 Bucknell never envisioned they'd be in either the 8/9 or 7/10 game when they made this schedule for Sojka Pavilion. they certainly didn’t envision it. However, even if they had, I’m sure they would’ve been happy to host the EIWA. It is a big money maker, and also prestigious in the wrestling community.

What court are they playing on? It looks like instead of turning the clock forward an hour they turned it back 50 years instead. Looks like the original Bucknell gym. As mentioned, they are playing in Davis Gym, which I believe was built in 1939, due to a conflict with Sojka Pavilion hosting the EIWa wrestling championships. Davis Gym was Bucknell’s basketball arena until 2002. It used to have at least twice as many seats as now, they took out the seats close to the court and also took out the student seating at both ends, in order to accommodate volleyball. Many of Bucknell’s wrestling meets are also held there, and it is used occasionally for basketball practices.

Laf’s best two players are seniors - I disagree It’s been long enough and her teams just don’t show up too much (See our game in Easton which was a 30 pt game in the 3 qtr and today’s no show) Antignoli will be the only reliable player for them next season One of their two best players is a junior, Abby Antognoli. She made All-PL last year, and made All-PL again this year

MM might not have put Flanagan on the ballot (senior vs. sophomore) Thanks, I was not aware that Coaches put names on the ballot. I assumed everybody is eligible. Good to learn something new. Yes, coaches make the nominations for all of the postseason awards. However, there is no limit on how many players they can nominate. The only issue might be that if you nominate too many, they might split the vote. Also, the coaches or the SIDs nominate all of the players for the weekly honors for all sports. . In that case, however, you can only nominate one player for a given award. Every now and then, that limitation makes no sense if two players on the same team have tremendous weeks.

Langel would take that job in a heartbeat. He has been holding out for a Philly job for years, and Penn is his alma mater. I've been expecting Langel to end up at La Salle, where his mentor, Fran Dunphy, came out of retirement to save the program. He is almost certain to retire again shortly and likely will push hard for Langel. With the financial state of LaSalle I am not sure taking the job at LaSalle would be a wise choice for a hot coaching prospect like Langel. The problem is that when you limit yourself to only considering five or six jobs, you are not really a hot prospect. St. Joes, Temple, La Salle, and Villanova all made recent coaching changes - and Langel did not get any of those jobs. He likely could have moved up the ladder to a number of other conferences but has shown no interest.

Not saying it is going to happen but if UPenn parted ways with Steve Donahue would Langel be interested in the job. UPenn didn't make the Ivy League Tournament for the first time since 2017 and did not have a very good year. I am not sure Langel is going to be as hot a coaching candidate as he is right now. Colgate is losing some very strong players this year. Langel would take that job in a heartbeat. He has been holding out for a Philly job for years, and Penn is his alma mater. I've been expecting Langel to end up at La Salle, where his mentor, Fran Dunphy, came out of retirement to save the program. Bronagh has made her PoY case down the stretch, averaging 25pp over the last five, shooting 52/49/86. Best player on the best team. We'll know shortly Boston’s blowout loss in a key game last night certainly did not help Weimer’s case. She did have 20 and 15, but a loss by that many points in a key game at the end of the year is certainly bad optics. It cost Boston a co-championship.

As an example as to how tight the standings are, Bucknell can win and tie for 1st place in certain scenarios. Probably a 3 seed. On the other hand, if they lose, the team could fall into a tie for 5th through 8th and get the 8 seed.
