It has already been done in the NIT. True. But frankly no one really cares about the NIT any more.

Choosing not to wait until Billy Donovan ends his Bulls season. Kentucky chooses alum Mark Pope of BYU, a polar opposite of Calipari. The carousel continues. Portal numbers and decommits will grow. Got to believe the Kentucky faithful were looking for a bigger name.

Unconfirmed rumor out there is that Kentucky has been in contact with Dan Hurley of UConn.
Stay tuned.

UConn robbed at the end with a phantom offensive foul on Edwards when UConn was one point behind with the ball. Iowa 71-69 Where "blatant" may be too strong of a description, it was clearly a moving screen and not "phantom" in any way.
You can argue whether it should have been called at that moment but certainly not that it was not a foul.

Apparently the players are not buying into Matt McKillop's (son of legendary Bob McK) coaching style. There are 6 players in the Portal including 3 freshmen/sophomores.

The point spread is 36 pts.
Seems excessive but maybe I will not feel that way at the end of the 1st Qtr.

I heard him say on TV last year that he almost went to HC. It was his second choice.

If he's wearing a brown uni next year, it will be at one of the other handful of schools that wear that color. Agreed.
His coach preseason said that he would not get much playing time unless his outside shooting and defense improved.
I guess it didn't.
Bet he transfers to a lower rated conference. Imagine if he came home to Boston and played for BU? Ugh.

Could someone post here the link to this year's basketball Transfer Portal?
The one I used in prior years does not seem to work any more.

Have we ever had a incoming class that the coaches were not excited about? A very fair comment.
But this class looks special. Likely two immediate starters.
Of course, that does not mean we will all of a sudden start to win but things will immediately get better and it establishes a real strong base to build on.

Let me tell you two Ivy stories.
1} Several years ago I heard a recruiter from an Ivy school quoted as saying with a wink to the father of a kid they were recruiting for football: "In the Ivies there are no athletic scholarships. Any scholarship is based on NEED only. And, if you are 6'6" 285, we NEED you."
2) A local 6'9" hooper bounced around to three different high schools. Some of movement was athletic based, much of it was because he was such a weak student. Several mid majors were interested in him. In the Spring of his senior year I ran into his mom at a HS playoff game and asked where her son was going to college. The response? "Harvard. How funny is that?" He was on the team for two years but logged few minutes and quit as a junior. But he actually graduated.
The Ivies overall have pretty high standards for athletes but there are loads of exceptions to the rule.

Many forces are conspiring to destroy college sports. They appear unstoppable Sadly true.
But the fans will still watch and the major sports will survive somehow.
Too much $ at stake not to.

As I watched tonight’s game at Colgate and bemoaned the lack of a true point guard, I thought of Tyler. He would have helped us tonight in so many ways: 1- he can push the ball up in transition for early opportunities that we rarely receive 2- he can get us into our offensive sets quickly which we struggle to do 3- with time on the shot clock, he can create opportunities for himself and teammates by beating his own man, causing help and passing to the open man throughout the possession 4- toward the end of the shot clock, under 10 seconds, the time when we have struggled all season, Tyler will take it upon himself to break down his defender to create a good scoring chance for himself or a teammate (ex, see a lob to Caleb) And those are only at the offensive end. Could not agree more.
I don't want to put too much pressure on the kid but, even as a freshman next year, he can make the team so much more competitive.
I've watched three of his games this year and I find myself saying several times each game "Oh wow. That was special. I haven't seen a PG do that at HC in many years."

I agree with virtually all the comments here as they relate to next year.
The one thing I think many are overlooking is how much this team missed not having a true point guard.
Batch and Williams took their turns manning that position and the results speak for themselves.
I've always felt that the two most important positions on a team are the PG and the center.
Although undersized, Kenney did an outstanding job holding down the center position very respectfully.
Next year we get a TRUE PG in Tyler Boston. I've watched several of his games at Bullis and he will help tremendously. He is a take charge kind of player who is explosive off the dribble and sees the entire court. Also, unlike most freshman, whose bodies need a lot of maturing to compete at the college level, Tyler is solidly built and should be more prepared to take the physical bumping he is sure to face.
Glad to close the book on this season and looking forward to better seasons ahead.
