Not sure if anyone knows this, but the Pats are in the Super Bowl. Tough start but lots of time left.

In previous L games, no team has won after down 14. Might as well watch Downton Abbey reruns

Incredible comeback by the Patriots. Brady will now be regarded by many as greatest quarterback in history

Incredible comeback by the Patriots. Brady will now be regarded by many as greatest quarterback in history I would say many had already considered him that and this solidifies it beyond argument.

So what's up with the OT rule in the NFL? Is there another sport where one team may not get a shot at winning the game in OT?

All Atlanta had to do was limit the Pats to a field goal. Meantime, Pats had shut down Atl. So please don't cheapen Pats' achievement as you are doing.

Since I don't follow NFL closely I was surprised to hear of the rule. The way they were playing I had no doubt the Pats would get a TD. But why end the game that way? Both teams scored 28 in regulation

Unstable falcons fans who bet heavily on this one should be watched closely today. I agree the brady-belichick tandem is the greatest, but come on, all the falcons had to do was run for one yard on 3rd and 1 from the 22 yd line and (and if they don't make it) kick a 40 yd fg for an 11 pt lead with 4 minutes left. Ryan takes a sack in that situation ! Inexcusable ! The other thing no one is talking about are the two 2 pt conversions. The pats had to have them and they seemed totally prepared with two plays that would succeed. Amazing coaching but imo, they had plenty of luck (i.e. falcon stupidity) to pull this one out.

So what's up with the OT rule in the NFL? Is there another sport where one team may not get a shot at winning the game in OT? I suppose it depends on your definition of having a shot at winning. The defense score too. In soccer, like football, one team gets the ball at the start of OT. Although it is much less likely than football, one team can go down the field without the other team touching the ball and get a sudden death goal Same thing for field hockey and I believe lacrosse. Ice hockey is similar, but at least there's a face-off In volleyball, there isn't OT per se, but a win by 2 system that can go on forever. By traditional scoring, only the serving team can get a point, so if you're tied at 15 or 14 and you can't break your opponents' serve. Although, at some levels this has changed so you can score on an opponent's serve. Apparently others agree with you because they changed the OT rule a few years ago so that if you hold the other guy to a field goal, you get a shot on offense.

Two pretty cool trick plays run by Pats....hope Gilmore was taking notes The Pats are always prepared, for every situation..I loved the "fake" take a knee at the end of regulation. If Lewis didn't get hurt, who knows if he takes it to the house! The direct snap to White was a nice twist.. It amazes me how well they execute a play that is in their bag of tricks, and haven't used it before...So ready for EVERY situation....No detail left to chance, BB is the best coach ever!
