I subscribe to the magazine but had not yet seen this article. Thanks for heads up. All incoming Frosh at Benedicts must complete the Appalachian Trail Hike, just one of the many unusual features of Benedicts.

An unusual and fun feature it sounds like...Apparently they hike for a week, 55 miles of the trail in NJ

At some point the entire incoming class sacks out in the gym. All students are members of groups named after prominent alums. They are taught the school's heritage. Selected Seniors lead the groups. One Senior is selected as leader of the school. The students basically run the school on a daily basis. 98% of these minority young men attend college, including elite schools. Some of the kids' families are so chaotic that they live in the only dormitory on campus. It is an amazing place doing extraordinary work for minority young boys/men.

All students are members of groups named after prominent alums. I assume that you have a lot of contact--guiding, mentoring, advising--- with the Sarasota Group???
