7 HC turnovers to only 6 for AU. HC 0 for 3 on FTs - that has to get better in the second half.

We need KC to take more than 2 FG attempts per half

Interesting that MH, RC and JF are 10 for 12. That is not bad. MA and KC are 0-6. That can't continue. HC defense giving AU fits, but they are not giving up the ball on steals or turnovers...at least not as often as the first game this year.

5 bunnies missed so far...Can't win if you don't put the ball in the hoop! The 5 would give us a 14 pt. lead! Very few are easy, uncontested shots, and American has also missed some bunnies of their own. Husek the only bright spot in a pretty poor half of basketball. 9 assists on 12 fg is pretty bright. Rebounding advantage is also bright. but of course, you have to be open enough to admit that. most of the missed layups were easy shots

0-3 on free throws isn't ideal both because we didn't take enough and because we didn't make any of the ones we did take.

HC defense giving AU fits, but they are not giving up the ball on steals or turnovers... But we are not giving them second chances off the offensive glass, which has been a problem lately - last six games, opponents averaging 9+ ORs, just two so far today.

Wide open shots by au not even close. If they start dropping in second half we could be in trouble.

I think a big part of our misses is the lack of depth..Practices are not as competitive as need be, so games are a much faster pace..Players don't have to work as hard in practice to score as they do in games...

Assists on 9 of 12 field goals is nice, but it would be extremely difficult to argue that our offense is a well-oiled machine right now, which using that stat would be suggesting:

Our fundamentals and attention to detail are poor in many different areas (look at the last sequence -- pass to nobody followed by a steal 30 feet from the hoop for a layup). We need to be doing a lot more than just making a few more shots in the paint.

I think that's too big of a leap. Also, most of these misses are shots from in close in traffic so the faster pace shouldn't be the issue.

HC, 49-44, 7 1/2 to go . . . down the stretch, we have an advantage at the line. AU one of the worst FT shooting teams in the country.

I think that's too big of a leap. Also, most of these misses are shots from in close in traffic so the faster pace shouldn't be the issue. Those shots are exactly what I mean..In practice the top 5-7 are so much better than the others that they can catch and easily lay in the shots. In games that action of catching and shooting has to be quicker, cuts have to be made a blink sooner, getting to spots on D has to be sooner...That is the pace I refer to. Game speed is always faster and quicker than practice. If practice cannot simulate that pace, it is very tough to make those plays in a game...

Dimarz, Have you seen practices ? Hard to say that practice is not fast or competitive when you do not see it. At this time of year many/most teams cut down on hard practice time for more shooting, film, etc.
