Coach happy with the shooting Happy with the result...not necessarily with all of the shooting. Turnovers were also more than should have happened. The pass by RC leading to a steal and AU layup was careless in the extreme.

Glad we took care of business today, but man, we should be 10-6 in the PL right now. Aargg!

Not at computer now for easy access to stats, but was this our least"three point dependent" game in a while??

Not at computer now for easy access to stats, but was this our least"three point dependent" game in a while?? Lowest three-point rate (28.9%) since first Bucknell game on Jan 8th, when we took 13-48 (27.1%). Only other games when we took a lower percentage from three were at URI (27.2%) and Maine (22%). www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/holy-cross/2017-gamelogs.html

Taking only 13 3s, but hitting 8 of them (for better than 61%) was excellent. Matt Husek had a beautiful stroke today and there were several points where a made 3 took off AU pressure as they tried to come back.

I am not sure it was mentioned, but allowing YY to go in for the opening tip (first game in 3 seasons - last played against Holy Cross) was a classy move. He tapped it to Malachi and they stoped the clock to sub for him. I pray his heart problem may one day be resolved. Interesting how many pieces had to come together for that to happen (AU, HC, PL, NCAA). I understand he got the game ball as a souvenir.

I figure Colgate will not beat Lehigh on the road but is 90% to beat Lafayette. Figure 20% x 90%= 4 to 1 against winning two games Loyola is 85% to beat American and let's say 40% vs HC so 2 to 1 against winning two games HC has to face a pretty good BU squad and evenly matched Loyola but plays at home, figure 55% x 60% or 2 to 1 against winning two games. I don't know the tie breakers but looks to me like Crusaders really need to beat Loyola

I believe this next game is a must win if HC wants to get an opening round bye. Also, getting a game at home could help start off the post-season in good form.

I noticed that in the post-game handshake line, Coach Carmody stopped and said a few extra words to him and patted him on the shoulder, and it resulted in a nice smile from the young man.

Well, we have pretty good tie breaks (especially our two wins over Colgate)...now all we need is to win both games!

Post by WorcesterGray on Feb 19, 2017 15:24:15 GMT -5
Don't think we have to win both to finish either 5th or 6th, which means either Navy or Lehigh on the road in the quarter-finals - in fact, finishing 6th might be better, because if we survive the quarters, we wouldn't have to play Bucknell in the semis.

Here's some more detail
In the case of multiple ties (more than two teams tied for the same spot), the following process will be used: Note: The entire process for multiple-team ties must be completed. The Patriot League does not revert back to the twoway tie formula once the multiple-team tie has been resolved.
i. Records between the tied teams will be evaluated to determine if one team won more contests against the other tied institutions.
[HC is 2-1 versus Colgate and Loyola; Colgate is 2-2; Loyola is 1-2]
ii. If a tie still exists, a comparison of records will be conducted for each team starting with the highest seed not involved in the tie and continuing through the lowest seed, if necessary.
iii. Sport specific tie-breaking procedure, if any (see Sport Specific regulations).
iv. Comparison of records versus out-of-League common opponents.
v. Coin flip (two teams) or draw (multiple teams).

Congratulations to Robert Champion on his 1000 points! It will be nice to again see two 1,000 point scorers on the court together for HC at the Hart

Ecstatic about MH's play and very happy about AT who hit a couple key shots.

Only record vs common OOC opponents. But it would never go beyond RPI anyway.

Question: Ziggy did not see the floor today, not even for garbage time 1 minute. Is he really doing that badly?
Is he ill? In the Carmody doghouse? Still on the team?

Still on the team? 2nd time in the last 3 games that walk-ons got minutes but not Zignorski. Probably not ill for a full week. I'm thinking either injured or doghouse

Ziggy has really been an afterthought for quite awhile - he's scored four points since Christmas. Wouldn't be surprised if he's hurt at the moment, but too hard a worker to be in any doghouse.
