Congrats to RChamp. Definitely one of my favorite players in the post-Willard era.

Ziggy is dressed for every game and appears fine. Thinks it's a performance issue rather than an injury.

Dimarz, Have you seen practices ? Hard to say that practice is not fast or competitive when you do not see it. At this time of many/most teams cut down on hard practice time for more shooting, film, etc. I have not seen HC practice this season. However I have many years of coaching experience with teams built as this is..No depth, and the regulars are a lot better than the subs..It makes hard for the better players to get better, except in game situations. They way a player gets better is playing against top competition, somebody better or at least equal in ability. I'm sure that the practice work has been reduced by now. Gotta save those legs!

Things such as contested layups can be simulated using coaches and foam pads to create contact. You don't need a great 2nd team for this. Your rationale essentially ignores the influence that a coaching staff would have on a practice and a team's growth. If the team isn't sharp at practice, it would be evident regardless of who the 2nd team is, and the coaching staff would get on them to fix their mistakes.

We will have to agree to disagree..My 40 plus years of coaching hoops tells me a lot different than your perceptions...Do you have any background in coaching hoops?

I am not sure it was mentioned, but allowing YY to go in for the opening tip (first game in 3 seasons - last played against Holy Cross) was a classy move. He tapped it to Malachi and they stoped the clock to sub for him. I pray his heart problem may one day be resolved. Interesting how many pieces had to come together for that to happen (AU, HC, PL, NCAA). I understand he got the game ball as a souvenir. That was really a nice thing to see, and it got me thinking about our own situation with Riley Criswell. I hope the powers that be find a way to at least allow Riley to put on a uniform for Senior Day. And before anyone goes Lost In Space robot on me ("NCAA Violation! NCAA Violation Will Robinson!"), I DON'T CARE. Just letting him dress would not hurt anyone or anything remotely related to the NCAA; I'll bet Joe Jones would have no issue with it either.

As was mentioned by the announcers (one of the few things I heard clearly on that choppy broadcast), the NCAA has to approve it since his scholarship does not count against the number allowed to HC. HOWEVER, as today showed, it can be done. It would be great to see him in uniform for Senior Day!

A classic example of where it would be much better to maybe have to beg for forgiveness from the NCAA, than ask anyone for permission to honor him in this way.

No need to defy the rules since the NCAA will readily waive it. Why annoy them over a non-issue?

C'mon, 87, give it a rest at least for now. The discussion has turned to Riley Criswell who from all reports from anyone who has had any contact with him (I have not) is that he is a quality person and has done much for what would have been his teammates if not for a very unfortunate injury. We'll never know how this program might have turned out as he was considered by many to have a top recruit.
I would also love to see him in uniform for senior day like was done today at American.
So, again, 87, do us all a favor and hold your fire about how the PL sucks for some other thread.

BTW, pleased to see Matt H get some accolades (Marine Man of the Match) for a sterling performance. He helped his senior classmates finally win a game at Bender during their careers.
20 points in 22 minutes. Would be nice if we could get more of our players to put up those kind of numbers with 8 of 9 shooting, 4 of 5 from 3, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and no turnovers. That's more than "serviceable" numbers.

I would L-O-V-E to see Riles in uniform. (To have to ask NCAA permission for this......another example of the Monster Monopoly NCAA. It's the closest thing to the Peoples Republic of North Korea.)

No offense to Riley....but this is why we are invisible....worried about a kid who nevah played at HC rather than HC basketball, and its total insignificance right now.

It's the closest thing to the Peoples Republic of North Korea Frankly that is a really stupid comment. First, this rule - like all NCAA rules - was passed by a vote of the schools. Most rules are passed by a huge majority of the schools. I'm sure HC voted in favor of it, and it likely passed unanimously. Couldn't possibly be more unlike Nortk Korea. Secondly it is obvious HC would need an NCAA waiver. Criswell was allowed to be carried on scholarship because HC certified to the NCAA that his baske.tball career was over and he could no longer play. If a waiver was not required for him to resume playing, what is to prevent a school from finagling the rules to have a 14th scholarship player available. It's a lot simpler to have a waiver provision than to try to write a 1000-word rule to try to foresee every situation that might warrant a waiver.

No, this is why Holy Cross and the Patriot League have true "Student Athletes", and not one and done players (not students!)..Embrace those cherished moments!

Aren't we actually down a scholarship with the freshman Cohen leaving the program?
