So if the writer and you are correct, that would obviously leave McLaughlin. Would the BC job pay much more than the Va. Tech one ? Since the two major sports at Va Tech seem much more promising of success, unless Lahey completely caves on admissions VCU not VA Tech. And no FB at VCU so I doubt it would be either of the 2 names the writer floats, as he's merely floating familar names with ties to BC, not necessarily legit candidates. Sorry

Can't see how BC would hire someone who comes from a football-less school. The way BC has been playing in the ACC, that would seem to be valuable experience.

I like the first paragraph of the Herald article:
"So who wants to become the next victim of Boston College’s decision to sell out its football and basketball programs for the right to become the ACC’s well-paid punching bag?"

Did not see the thread regarding this posted by ACTP. I'll see if the moderator can combine the two...

Paquette is extremely well thought of by the TPTB, I will be surprised if he is not a finalist.

Can't see how BC would hire someone who comes from a football-less school. This article from ESPN.com, detailing the recent AD hires in the ACC, would contradict that take: www.espn.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/98460/is-the-answer-to-athletic-director-instability-making-more-familiar-hiresIf BC was smart, they would hire the best person for the job, regardless of whether or not they can check off some hypothetical box stating that they have been an AD of a school with a 1-A football program. If you are smart and understand how to make things work at a school like Boston College, I think you can also figure out how to improve their football program. It's college football, not brain surgery or rocket science. While demand for Power 5 AD jobs is certainly extremely limited and many qualified candidates would want this job, BC is at somewhat of a disadvantage given their recent lack of success in Football & Basketball. Given that, it would not be wise to eliminate any candidates based on some hypothetical hurdle like this one, just like it was not wise when DR decided that he would only hire someone with "head coaching experience" after firing Sean Kearney.
