Massey makes HC a 2 point favorite (63-61) at home on Saturday (2:05pm) with a 55% chance for then. In short, the game is a toss-up. This is even after HC lost by 6 in the PL opener at BU.

In the last game (12/30), HC shot 32% (33% from 3) to BU's 42% and 32%. Top HC players were: Champion 18 pts, 5 reb Husek 14 pt, 4 reb Charles 9 pts, 4 reb Alexander 8 pts, 5 reb HC was out rebounded by 20! (47-27) and that must get better! Charles had 4 pf and RC fouled out.
Top BU players were: Fanning 14 pts, 10 reb Alston 13 pts, 15 reb Hankerson 10 pt, 2 reb No BU player had more than 3 PF.

Holy Cross had only 6 players with significant minutes (JF had only 7 min - no one else saw playing time). BU had 7 players with significant minutes (Max Mahoney had 9 minutes).
We should see a very different HC team on Saturday.

I was not a math major but still think 47-47 is equal, not a 20 point difference. My facetious way of telling you that you made a typo, Rob. Since I was at the game, I will vouch that we got killed on the boards and suspect you meant 47-27.

Since I was at the game, I will vouch that we got killed on the boards and suspect you meant 47-27. I did and it is fixed. I could claim I did it on purpose see who as paying attention, but that would be just ridiculous. (I did see it and thought I corrected it, by obviously I did not. I am also having an ongoing battle with my spell-check. The most common is that it changes "Rnd 2" to "And 2" and it just did it again as I typed this. The rebounding in that game cannot be repeated if we hope to win. It was forcing BU into 10 more turnovers that let HC stay close.

Holy Cross hasn't won three straight in regular-season conference play since 2014.

Holy Cross hasn't won three straight in regular-season conference play since 2014. Since this group of players has set many "firsts," that need not be an issue.

"HC was out rebounded by 20! (47-27) and that must get better!"
HC shot 32%, that is a lot of missed shots for BU to rebound..It all comes down to making shots..I don't know the numbers, but my eyes tell me HC shoots it much better at home than on the road...

Intuitively, that makes sense since they practice and play half their in-league games there and should be used to the background, acoustics, etc. They should feel more comfortable in their home environment. To make an exaggerated point, playing in the Syracuse Demi-dome with its totally different background and size is nothing like playing in the friendly confines of the Hart Center (I know, a "high school gym").

Background and atmosphere - they are things often overlooked. Locally (at Bergen Community College) teams not used to the gym typically are stone cold in the first half unless they have paid to get two or more practice sessions in the gym before our County Championship. Every court has its own atmosphere and, in some cases, it can be a huge handicap or benefit.

Agree... and I also think the Hart Center is great compared to the Worcester Auditorium when we used to jump on the buses to go downtown for all the home games and sit in that damn Little Theater, etc. Let's fill the H.C. to capacity repeatedly for a prolonged period of time before thinking seriously about expansion of its seating capacity. When we were students (some of you posters are too young to have predated the Hart Center), we had no on campus gym/arena for the basketball games. At the time, the Hart Center's construction was a very big deal in my opinion, and it was named for a great Jesuit father that everyone liked.

Have to think BU will be treating this game like their Super Bowl, knowing that they don't have a prayer of winning the pL Tournament.

TS1970, Well said...and you bring back many good memories...including Coley Island Hot Dogs on the way to the Aud. I was at many a game in the Aud. couldn't see the sidelines from the balcony...But they were comfy chairs! I remember the last season there, (my first as a season ticket holder), opening night about 348 people, by January every seat was sold....

First three hundred students get free shirts and pizza. Any students who get the shirt and pizza and then leave the game should be expelled. Just one man's opinion......

In the past (and probably 99 percent of other schools) this is an E-mail blast, not a hand written note that was scanned in He either has perfect handwriting, or they used a font/program to convert this into a "handwritten" letter. Anyone know if they have been actively marketing the game to students on campus? I know that we are now supposedly a "hockey school" (LOL), but there should be a really large student turnout for what I believe is our first game at a favorable time slot with students on campus this year.
