I have been one of AT's critics about what I have often perceived as his lack of judgement over the last couple of years (great 1st year, though) with his kamikaze drives straight to the basket into the tall trees or often missing an open teammate.
However, I also want to go on record giving him kudos for his 100% effort (I don't believe anyone can give 110%) all the time, every game, every season, especially yesterday. There was little doubt the AT wanted this game from the opening tip. He was juiced more than usual.
Perhaps the very last play of his career at the Hart Center brought this all home for me. Take a look at the replay of the game as PB threw a pass that AT could only catch way off balance to prevent from going out of bounds. With time running down and almost out of bounds, he threw up a prayer for an attempted 3 that missed. It was his only play as there was no one in position to get a pass from him. AT fell to the floor, literally at my feet half on and half off the court as he watched and hoped the ball would go in for a tying basket. It did not. What you can't see on the video was that AT did not have an ounce of energy left in his body. He literally "left it all on the court" and as the horn had blown, he could not summon the mental or physical will to get up until Pat B came across court to give him a hand up.
I want to salute Anthony as well as the other senior battling Crusaders: Rob Champion, Malachi Alexander and Matt Husek.
Whether or not they pull off another miracle tournament run like last year, they are a special class and have always represented Holy Cross well and wish them all the best in their remaining days as students and best of luck in their future careers.

As an epilogue to my last post, let me also pass along kudos to the senior class' parents and families.
Four years ago, NAD and I were at Mohegan Sun standing in line for the doors to open for the game we were playing there. A tall gentleman and his wife and a couple of kids were right there with us. NAD struck up a conversation and we met Wes & Judy Champion, Robert's parents and Robert's younger siblings. Over the years, Wes and Judy and often some of the kids became fixtures at most of the home games and many of the away games. Many Crossporters like Tom and 45 and probably others got to know the Champions and the Huseks and maybe some of the other parents.
What always struck me was the sense of appreciation that the parents had for us "dyed-in-the-wool" Crusader fans who regularly came to support their sons.
While we will miss these soon-to-be young alums, many of us will miss their parents and families as well. These players all "come from good stock."

...and one more time, let's send kudos to the band for their fine effort yesterday and throughout the season. I hope HC sends them to every PL tournament game! I believe they deserve it and the team can benefit from their presence.

Just want to echo what sader1970 said in both post! Well said and well deserved !
But, we are all 0 - 0 now! Can history repeat itself? As I have I have repeatedly said... On any given night, any team in the PL can beat any other team in the PL!!!!
Go Cross Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The boys and I have also met some of them at various games and they are all great people. I was just watching a video I took of my 12-year-old in the "Pepsi 3-point Contest" on Saturday and the players' families are all in the background of the shot and cheering very enthusiastically for him. I think the Champions were more excited than we were. The players and their families will all be missed.

And the kid nailed it to win ! Has he given his verbal yet ? Still in negotiations but I suspect he'll wind up at HC. The Princeton offense is a good match for his skills.

interesting to note that AT shot over 40% from 3 point land as a freshman and as a sophomore until his minutes decreased significantly after his shoulder injury. Shooting percentage on threes as sophomore dropped to 15% in games he played after injury. Although he improved to 31% this year as opposed to 26% as a junior he never got close to what he did the first year and a half.
