According to the 2017 football schedule posted on the HC Athletics football web page, HC was supposed to open the 2017 season with a home game against Albany on September 2 and then play UConn at UConn on September 9.
This afternoon, a Tweet by the Hartford Courant reporter who covers UConn football:
This would obviously also impact the Albany game.

Believe Albany bailed and we are looking to fill that Sept 9 date.

Albany is at Old Dominion Sept 2, 2017. Guarantee game, although I doubt the payoff is particularly high.

Thursday night game. Maybe it will be on ESPN. Probably ESPNU. Is it too early to start thinking about leaving work early on a Thursday to make it up to this one?
Wish we weren't breaking in a new QB for our first FBS game since 2002.

Sons, I think you are misremembering as the 4th qtr comeback was against Bryant. The Crusaders spanked Albany last year 37-0 to get the payback for the brutal loss in 2014. But I get your point and appreciate the positive approach and optimistic outlook.
Let's Win!!

Let's repeat the results of the 2015 game this year in Albany!
Show them that their 2014 win was a fluke not to be repeated.

May we never see the likes of that 2014 game again A worse loss: Albany in 2014 or Wagner in 2012? Many similarities. That is a very hard choice. In each case, one could have said after either one, "Surely this will never happen again." Each one made me feel ill.

2016 is a big year for Holy Cross. With the difficult schedule and upgraded talent the expectations will be high and should be. I'm hoping they play the way they played about 75% of last season to closer to 100% this upcoming season. Last year HC showed some great flashes of brillance and played at a very high level but still had those "what the heck" moments. Really need to eliminate those this year....

And now it appears that the "Future Schedules" link has been deleted from the HC football web page.

regarding tv coverage for unconn's early season games vs. fcs schools, they have not been picked up by any espn channel but have been covered by 'sny' in new york. sny generally distributes the broadcast to other cable systems around the east.

That is good news. We get SNY on cablevision (channel 60) in NJ.

HC schedules seem to be among the last posted in each sport (compared to other schools). I hope all of the "mystery" about future HC schedules is because they are constantly being upgraded by HC. I look forward to seeing the final product.
