Ed DeChellis was a shoo-in for Coach of the Year, but then February happened.

Congrats to Malachi! Especially nice to see the defensive recognition - he ranked fourth in the conference in defensive win shares.
Also happy to see Foulland get POY - more deserving than Baby Timmy.

Ed DeChellis was a shoo-in for Coach of the Year, but then February happened. Over the final eight days of the season, DeChellis watched as: 1. Navy was outscored 42-14 by Army over the final 12:40 to lose by three. 2. Lost by 16 points at home to last place American. 3. In a huge game for seeding purposes on national TV, Navy was outscored 37-8 by Bucknell to start the game, even with Foulland unavailable. They also lost to Lehigh by 19 points just prior to these three. BTW, put together the final 12:40 of their Army game and the first 15:30 of the Bucknell game, and they were outscored 79-22.

MA is a very good three point shooter, of course, but I like seeing him get the ball down low and put on a move or two, and use his strength, to score close in.

According to KenPom, Foulland isn't even the best player on his team. Regardless, people will always use a curious mix of advanced stats and traditional stats to rationalize their belief.

In case you don't know it, Pomeroy doesn't measure defense. Foulland is way ahead of Kempton (and Thomas) at that end.

Agree with 137, defense counts. See Bill Russell here.
