At least against superior bats Let's wait until we get more to our level of competition We have quality arms returning from last season

I feel depressed by CROSSPORTS. According to posts on this site, we have no bats and no arms. Do we still have a team? Keep the faith, at least until we reach games against our Northeast opponents.

We may need to stage some sort of intervention to get this coach to stop the sacrifice bunts. It is insane Totally agree. You only get 27 outs, you shouldn't be giving up any unless it's absolutely necessary. 3-0 in the 2nd inning is not a "necessary" situation. May have killed a big inning. Frustrating. Here's the football equivalent: you have the ball on the 22 yard line on the right hash mark and it's third and 5. So you run the ball left and dive into the line so you can kick a field goal from straight on. Why try for the touchdown; show that you are a strategic coach and play for that three point field goal!!

The football decision makes far more sense, though I do not agree with it. At least you most often get points from that decision. with the bunt , you usually get nada

encouraging: = critelli went 3 for 4. this team will probably rely on his bat all season if we're going to be successful = frosh cf masel continues to hit
discouraging: = six wild pitches last night = three errors last night
these trips have many advantages along with the inevitable losses. sure the coaching staff will learn a lot (the hard way)

They had men on 1st and 2nd with no outs and the #8 hitter up. (.150 average) JMO, I don't see why putting down a sac bunt in that situation is a problem with some.

Those studies don't really have anything to do with the individual situation of last night's game. The #8 hitter is a freshman hitting .150 and the #9 hitter is a senior and four year starter and although he is struggling at the plate, he's probably more reliable in this situation and overdue for a hit. And that's what happened, he got a hit and drove in both runners.

Nice. Good to get that first win under our belts. Hopefully these games are serving their purpose. I know wins and losses aren't that important at this point but always good to get a W.

Cal Northridge today at 5pm et - video available - they are 6-6 on the season after losing to ucla yday 7-2. Hard to say how good they are as they lost 3 of 4 to Towson, and then took 2 of 3 on the road from no.14 ranked Vanderbilt last weekend. day off tmro, then 3 games vs. usc
