Game 2: RMU 2 HC 0 end of 2nd Horrendous. If they lose this game then this program unfortunately has very little direction. Don't care about .500+ record when you can't sniff the ncaa's.

Lost 3-2. They scored on an empty net to make it 3-1 and then we scored with 23 seconds left. Another tough end of a season for HC hockey. Proud of the guys for fighting until the end but next year is make or break. Almost everyone is back. Can't have another early exit next year.

Third year in a row. First round playoff debacle. Three years into Berard and he is 1-6 in first round playoff games. I said it last March and it still holds true again this March. The regular season once more next year for this team will mean nothing at all. It will all matter with the games in March. Monkey on the back clearly is even heavier this March. It is unfortunate but true. We appreciate all the hard work that the team did, wish them well in the off season and will hope that things get fixed in March of 2018. Jury will clearly be out until then no matter what happens in the 30 or so games before that next season. As fans we will be cheering for them once again come October and be hopeful that they can somehow win a few playoff games. Let's put HE on hold until we do.

Actually, they went a round further than last year as they had a bye.

Eliminate. Save the large cost. Not worth it. Use rink as recreational for students and the public.

....... Let's put HE on hold until we do. I can't believe you don't understand that there never was anything to "put on hold" with HE I do understand that. Two pieces to this discussion. Our desire to go to HE and HE desire to add us. When I say "put on hold" I'am speaking about our desire to be there and that is completely separate from whether or not we get an invite from HE. Can't believe that you did not understand what I have been saying.

If we join HE you will see better athletes and the hockey program will really take off. With the new additions to the Hart center locker rooms it will be much easier to recruit top talent to compete in HE.

HC was 3-2-1 vs. the 3 AHA teams ahead of it (other than Army, which it hasn't beat since Eisenhower). The team just missed too many points against the lesser teams to have secured home ice, which is critical, especially when the first round is a 9-hour bus ride away. Was at both RMU games. HC had the better of the play Fri. night through 2 until PB gave up a bad goal at 1-1 in the third, and it went downhill from there. Last night HC had lots of PP time at 0-0 and couldn't capitalize. PB was stout. Also think about this: the AHA has gotten a lot tougher, especially the top half. AFA beat BC and tied Ohio State. RMU won a holiday tournament, beating Quinnipiac 5-2 in the final. HC beat PC and Union. RMU's top line was 1-2-3 in the league in scoring, averaging 4+ PPG. Canisius, AFA, & Army have excellent goalies. HC is well coached. Biggest issue, I believe, is getting top recruits to overlook 40-year-old Hart Center and what's basically the original locker room. No other dedicated facilities (weight room, video room, shooting room, etc.) that virtually everyone above them in PairWise has. No easy answers to those challenges.

Oh yeah -- ADNP was on the trip, along w/#2 Joe B. Impressive, considering he could have been at USC w/the baseball team (6-4 victors yesterday over the Trojans!)

Ultimately a disappointing season. Need to start winning in the post-season, it has been WAY too long.

Back half of game one was a killer. Have to be better next year, and agree that it is make or break.
Also probably should dissolve football to spend more money on hockey, too. (Wait- are unhelpful throwaways in favor of the program also OK?)

Go back to need based aid for men's basketball and shift resources to hockey and baseball. Men's basketball is nothing more than a glorified d2 team.
