sort of, they are in the CBI, getting a home game vs George Mason see if Paulsen can beat his old PL Lehigh and baby Timmy ae done Dozens of teams turned down this so-called tournament, likely including Lehigh, navy, and Boston. It's field includes five teams with losing records in mediocre conferences: Coastal Carolina (200 Pomeroy ranking) Hampton 306 Illinois Chicago 245 Utah Valley 190 Loyola 251 Also included are: MO- Kansas City 223 Eastern Washington 188 Green Bay 185 Stony Brook 212 No teams with Pomeroy rankings better than 105. GMU has to be the favorite to win it. I wonder how many fans they will draw for this fraud of a tournament. They do not play at Loyola by the way, but rather host the first round.

Playing in the ferkakta CBI worked wonders for your BFF in getting HC "ready for next year" the year played.

Loyola getting troops ready for next year. Does an extra week of practice in March carry over to next January?

Never hurts to be playing as long as your team is healthy. Makes absolutely no sense to keep playing if your players were borderline abusing themselves to suit up.
RW passed up one of these because his team was so banged up, didn't make any sense.
You can even give some people some minutes you weren't normally giving them and/or try some different things.

Wasn't this "tourney" the only reason CMB got to 20 wins that year? How many times on the board did you lean on that 20 win season?

Who approved the tourney? That is the question here. Another Nate Pine mistake?

Who approved the tourney? That is the question here. That is your question, anyway. It seems you never get around to answering questions that correct your beliefs.

Let me answer it for you. Nate Pine approved the CBI participation. And I'm glad he did.

If you were a math teacher you would realize that is a silly question. 19 or 20 wins are starting to look like the glory days. Allowed nate to say he had a team in the post season. Rare around these parts.

"Rare around these parts"? Where were you last March? And I'll take last year's results over ANY results under your BFF, and so will just about everyone else.

Not to nitpick but we were never in the CBI. We were in the CIT - I believe VMI and Yale were the finalists the year we participated.
I have nothing against participating in these tournaments as they are no different than the "everyone with a pulse makes a bowl game" equivalent for DI basketball. If the tournament provides extra experience for young players, why not?

If the tournament provides extra experience for young players, why not? Agree. I'm not sure why some get so bent out of shape over them. Most everyone gets that these are pay for play, so that's a decision each school has to make: is this money we're spending worth it? If so, cool. If not, cool. I always look at this way: at the start of the year, 350 alumni bases around the country are praying their school will make the NCAAs, and none of us would decry the extra time spent out of class by our students. So what's the difference if they're out of class an extra week for the CIT or CBI, if they want to play and a school decides it's worth it?

As someone who always has trouble coming to grips with the season being over, I'm always happy to have another game to watch. And while maybe it wouldn't help much with younger player development, it certainly can never hurt (unless someone gets injured, of course).

If the tournament provides extra experience for young players, why not? Have to admit I can't keep them straight. I think in that tourney Yale lost to Murray State in the finals, when they didn't have Justin Sears. We had a double digit lead over Yale in our game with them, only to completely come unglued against their zone, in a carbon copy of the AU PLT game a week or so earlier (maybe the beginning of the end for the former staff).

Do the AD's and coaches ask the players if they are interested in extending the season by joining one of the less-than-prestigious tournaments? If fans think the tournaments (let's say the ones lower than the NIT) are silly but the players want to compete, should the fans respect the players' wishes or do the fans know what's best?
