Maryland is 30-2 and ranked 3rd in the nation. Gave UConn a very tough game. Should have been a 2 seed.

Nature of the beast KY. Bucknell certainly got the short end of the stick, driven in part to the down year in the conference rank I think.

Today's Courier-Journal includes an AP article "Time to shine for one-bid conferences" featuring a large color photo of four Bucknell players celebrating the team's winning the PL Women's Championship game.

not surprisingly, bison getting mauled - terps are up 70-37 late in 3rd qtr. athleticism gap is huge between these teams. just the reality of the womens college game.

UConn won by 55... Baylor by 89, 119-30. How can you win by that much?

The worst player on UConn is 1000x better than the best player on Albany. Such games will always be very ugly.

"1000x better"? Haven't we told you not to exaggerate at least a billion times?

Quinnipiac making a major statement in the tourney. they go down to miami and win two ncaa games, beating marquette and then univ of miami on their home floor, to go to the sweet 16 - they're in the west region and head out to stockton ca. to play (their last game) vs. south carolina. at one time I thought the hc program might have such a run in them, but no more, I'm afraid

Really bad matchup for the Bison. Maryland was underseeded at a 3.

Really bad matchup for the Bison. Maryland was underseeded at a 3. True but wouldn't have mattered. No 14 or 15 has ever won a game in the women's tourney. A 16 (Harvard) did beat a 1 (Stanford) but only after Stanford's two best players tore their ACLs at the end of the season. They still got a 1 because the extent of the first injury was not known at the time of the seeding and the second injury hadn't yet occurred.

You may very well be right, but the matchup didn't help matters at all.

Quinnipiac, a relatively young school, wins the mens hockey natl championship and their womens bball team goes to at least the Sweet Sixteen. Hmmmm

Really bad matchup for the Bison. Maryland was underseeded at a 3. True but wouldn't have mattered. No 14 or 15 has ever won a game in the women's tourney. One reason for that - other than the complete lack of parity in the women's game - is that the high seeds in the women's tournament normally play their first two games on their own home court. Some 14 might have a shot to beat a 3 on a neutral court.

So now Uconn has to travel all the way to Bridgeport to play the East Regional As if they needed another advantage ! Bridgeport brings in more money than any other women's site, especially with the NCAA charging far more for a ticket than they do at any other site. With the women's tournament struggling financially, Bridgeport will frequently host a Regional. And when it's not in Bridgeport, it is at a site within easy driving distance of Connecticut to assure a sellout. That assumes that UConn is one of the top couple of seeds. In years when they weren't a 1 seed, they did have to travel.
