I really like the purple accents. Nice to see Iggy is on top of the action.

I really like the purple accents. Nice to see Iggy is on top of the action. Iggy's uniform resembles that of the Roman legion. No helmets with plumes were used by the crusaders.

Iggy also resembles Marvin the Martian (as many have said previously). This cartoon character has no need to look "historically accurate." BTW, at football games, bring back the horse!
PS: The HART photographs well. That shot does not look anything like the high school gym some say the Hart is.

Around 1962, the horse rider was Gene Miller '63. I don't know if we were the first to use a horse at Fitton. Was it used subsequently? It was very cool when came out of nowhere and charged across the field. Yes. Bring it back! Along with a jumbo tron....along with those Lockbaum-era uniforms......along with field turf.....along with lights! The costs would be marginal. Gotta build it first, then they will come.

There was a mounted Crusader at some Fitton games in the early 1970's

Looking at the photo, I have to say that the new endcourt bleachers have significantly less seating than the wooden bleachers that were replaced, and less capacity than calculated for life safety designs.. The difference is the pair of double width aisles that didn't exist in the old bleachers. The bid plans had called for these bleachers to be salvaged and re-installed.

End bleachers are taller than the wood ones were. At least 2 extra rows.

Can make out my daughter and me in the back corner. Yeah that was a fun atmosphere that day.

Looks like there is no longer a sleepover option for the camp. The boys will be disappointed.

PS: The HART photographs well. That shot does not look anything like the high school gym some say the Hart is. Wasn't there some kind of fence in the old days? Something that separated a strip of grass from the rest of the field? Don't think there's a place for a horse any more.

It is so much brighter in there now: Y Yes, I saw the difference between HC and Worcester Tech in the past couple of weeks. Lighting and background make a world of difference.

Looks like there is no longer a sleepover option for the camp. The boys will be disappointed. I have a king size bed in the guest room and a daughter who will likely be working on campus this summer and driving home home each day at 4:30. We might be able to work something out for that week.

You're a good man, Bob. If your place in Heaven is not already secure, dealing with my boys for a week would definitely seal the deal.

I know you've raised them well and I'll bet they'd be angels as guests (particularly without mom & dad around) ... that and I'd be counting on Coach Carmody & staff to run 'em all day long so they won't have much left in the tank when they get to my place!

The cutouts for the completely unnecessary new hoops on the floor also take out a significant amount of seats. $95 Mil.....

Yes, our sell outs now come with smaller crowds than when we had those extra seats

Yes, our sell outs now come with smaller crowds than when we had those extra seats The capacity number are not even close to as important as the impact of the crowd. Call me crazy, but I'd prefer a student section like the one in this photo compared to our new $95M section with enormous aisles and a huge chunk of the center cut out for a new hoop.

End bleachers are taller than the wood ones were. At least 2 extra rows. I don't think so. The life safety drawings for the end court bleachers (which were the to-be salvaged bleachers) say this: 11 rows at 48' long 18 inch spectator seating, 32 spectators per row 352 spectators per end court bleacher. x 2 = 704 spectators for the wooden end court bleachers. By visual count, there are still 11 rows, but now with aisles and cutouts under the basket

Might the double wide bleacher aisles be a life safety requirement, i.e. couldn't reuse old bleachers?...these seem to be standard now; they do chop up bleacher sections; I think the aisles are a big improvement; on the side lines they allow access to/from the upper ring
with bbc's photo you can see the difference the new lighting makes; i.e its not just a paint job; re the new basket stations v seats v video boards type decission???
