Fascinating article, and a very sad one. So many factors now conspire to ruin college sports.... You are unfortunately very right. The transfer situation is but just one factor hurting non power conference schools in college basketball. Other factors: Escalating Coaching Salaries and budgets NCAA Selection Process - Diminished role of RPI and greater importance on Top 50 wins (which non power schools have little opportunity for) Decreasing number of non power conf teams in NCAA Tournament Worsening NCAA seeds for non power conf teams Scheduling Increasing number of home games for power conf teams Increasing number of league games for power conferences (reducing games vs non power conf teams) Exempt tournaments with final four predetermined and additional home games for final 4 (which tend to be power conf teams) TV (power conf league creating their own networks)
