I'm ALL for the celebration of people of all different creeds, colors, sexual orientation, you name it. I fall into a minority camp myself! But this "micro aggression" crap, are you kidding me?? This is an email that was sent to students—could also be titled "Why Trump Won". This, by the way, is coming from a '15 grad. It's sad the kind of culture that is being ushered in by Leftist administrators / professors. If anything, a "micro aggression week" further polarizes students and turns the "safe space culture" from a irrational bubble to a impenetrable glass ball of ignorance.
Email: Holy Cross Campaign Against Microaggressions* *Microaggressions are the casual degradation of any marginalized group Ex: Can I touch your hair? What’s your real sexuality? Where are you really from?

I am uncomfortable with this sort of compartmentalization. Does that make this week one huge "microaggression" for me?

This is absolute insanity, but it is becoming the norm as our society continues its headlong slide into the abyss

Basically, the article quotes Chronicle of Higher Education sources that have found: 1. the link between implicit bias and discriminatory behavior is weaker than previously thought (as in...it is tough to find any causal relationship at all) 2. changes in implicit bias do little to alter a person's behavior I wonder if these two points will be covered to those taking information away from what may well be a week long waste of time? HC is not on the cutting edge here, but seems to be trailing behind current research since having this week fits a PC agenda. Sad.

This is absolute insanity, but it is becoming the norm as our society continues its headlong slide into the abyss I'd prefer to think that it's just another example of trendy thinking and herd mentality in academia. My hope is that the old truism about trends and fashions inevitably changing applies to this nonsense. Hopefully, in the future the concept of "microaggressions" an other related concepts will be consigned to the ash heap of campus history.

So a table is being set up in Hogan and a group is attempting to educate their fellow students about something that matters to them? I would assume that students who are not interested will walk on by.
It seems to me that this is speech that offends some here on the board. If you don't like speech, the answer is more speech, not less, so complain away but I suspect we will all be in trouble with Dean Wormer soon if this goes anywhere.

Would it be ok to set up a table next to them with an opposing view?

Would it be ok to set up a table next to them with an opposing view? Of course it would. Would it, though? I'm not so confident after seeing the unfortunate events at UC Berkeley over the past few months.

In some cases people who are offended by microaggresions display their angst with macroaggression. They feel the end justifies the means, I imagine. I would hope that men and women for others would not fall into that trap.

As I read the email, this undertaking is student-organized. I would hope it reflects the diversity of interests and views that should exist at a liberal arts college promoting critical thinking. If one seeks homogeneity, try Liberty or Brigham Young.
And having long put student organizing and protest in the rear view mirror, this is tepid tea compared to back when. And as I pointed out to the now absent GoPurp, David Stockman was a member of the Students for a Democratic Society at Harvard.

I believe SGA/Executive Cabinet is the student government body... one of it's functions its to parcel out $$ collected as student activity fees, albeit pursuant to guidelines established by the Student Affairs Office.... follow the $$

I think I'm finally starting to understand at least a part of this discussion. For example, this coming from a '15 grad, is not the email, but the post itself ... ok, carry on, I'm still reading
