Iona is transfer U And a completely contrasting style of play compared to HC Still a perfectly reasonable opponent. Reasonably evenly matched (depending on year), fairly easy road trip, should draw out our NYC alums. Since Tim Cluess arrived at Iona for the 2010-11 season, they have an average national ranking of 86th in the nation (Pomeroy). Their worst season in that 7-year span was this past season when they ranked 117th. Their MAAC record over that span is 101-33. As HChoops points out, Cluess is a master at landing transfers to keep them at or near the top. That will be a tough game.

I would think a 2-1 deal with the Crusaders home game at the DCU Center (similar to those with UMass and URI) might be attractive to PC.

Not a bad plan to have a 3rd 2-1 if you spread it out with one team coming to Worcester every year. It would work well the way UMass was set up with Worcester in year one (instead of year 2) and URI starting last year. A 2-1 starting this year and in Worcester next year would work well

Interesting to note that PC will play a regular season home game on its campus for the first time since 1972. The Dunkin Donuts Center is not available at the start of the season as it along with the connected RI Convention Center will be hosting RI Comic Con. PC desired a tuneup game before it plays Minnesota at the DDC on Monday November 13th in the Big Ten-BE Challenge. It wanted to first play one of its 2K Classic tournament home games versus either Houston Baptist or Belmont. With the DDC arena unavailable, it was forced to move the game to its on campus Alumni Hall. A regular season men's game has not been played there for 45 years. The facility, which once had a 3,600 bleacher seating capacity, has been updated over the years as it is still the home for the Friar women hoops team. The seating capacity has however been reduced to just 1,800 now with individual chair-backs. PC will use its priority seating plan to distribute what few tickets it will have (its season ticket base alone is likely at least 3x the Alumni Hall capacity).

3 more losses and no $$$ to show for it....bad idea...imho This might be a good year to steal a win at UMass. They have a new coach and will have seven new players as there was a big exodus of players after the Kellogg firing. New coach Matt McCall is expected to have a rough first season.

If UMass is smart - they'll play the HC game in the Cage again - and over Thanksgiving weekend like they did in 2010 - when it was a terrific atmosphere, rather than having 6,000 empty seats at the Mullins for the game.

I shot a few men's and women's games out there for a few different schools. The atmosphere for the UMass vs HC game at the DCU blew away anything Mullins could produce now.

on another note, here is an example of what powers conference teams are paying for games this season. American will play at West Virginia on Nov. 15th and receive $95,000. (Fordham also scheduled a game there and will get a check for $100,000).
IMO, hc should do the same for at least one game each year (but will we not take the risk this season with such a young team?)

speaking of umass, they released their ooc schedule yday and our game at umass is wed. dec 6th Huge mistake here by not playing this game on a weekend afternoon. Given how bad attendance has dropped at the Mullins on weeknites they'll be lucky to get 3K for this game.

Probably determined by umass Yeah - I realize this. I just inquired with the UM beat scribe and he told me reason this game (or any others) are no longer be played in the Cage is because it's not equipped for video streaming. Not my area of knowledge, but it can't be that expensive to install WiFi, some electrical work, and a couple of camera stands.

Should be at least two, regardless of how "young" the team is. Two or three losses against top teams (along with an equal number of large checks) is a lot better for the program than two or three (hopefully..) wins against Sacred Heart, Maine, UNH, Hartford, Marist, etc.

His response to me Dave when I just sent this vid to him and asked him: "Nothing in Cage gets updated because it's not regularly used. There are things permanently set up in Mullins that don't exist in the Cage" Meaning the Cage is apparently not compatible with current equipment, and the skin flints at UM are too cheap to update or rent compatible equipment for limited use.

Given how bad attendance has dropped at the Mullins on weeknites they'll be lucky to get 3K for this game. UMass averaged just 3297 for 18 home games last year. A crowd of just 3k for Holy Cross on a weeknight would actually be the norm for them. The best attended game last year was 5229 for UMass-Lowell in their first game. It was all downhill in the stands and on the court after that.
