The NCAA should not be a minor league for the NBA. The NBA should invest in a true minor league for young men who have no intention of getting a true college education but simply want to go pro. Not a D league but rather the equivalent to MLB's AAA teams.

That is a good idea for many reasons.

There's no market for minor league basketball, it is a financial/box office/tv disaster, time and again.
You're "stuck" with college hoop. Or maybe the big schools separate from the NCAA and the "student athlete" myth is finally put to rest.
That said, think the sign-before-college-or-stay-3-years (or even 2) models (like baseball and hockey) are much better.

Never said it would be a financial success. Instead, it should be looked at an "investment." There are precious few minor league baseball teams that are financially successful either but MLB knows that they are a "cost of doing business" that somehow the NBA has been happy to let the colleges shoulder. We just finished (from Holy Cross' perspective) a season in baseball. Oregon State has numerous players good enough to play in high level minor league baseball, if not the majors, yet MLB still has its players who never had any intention of going the collegiate route and play in the minors/majors.
At minimum, the NBA should financially subsidize the NCAA in basketball if they won't do their own thing.
Would love to see the 1 and dones gone from college basketball. They want to make money, not get an education. Let them do that and avoid to some degree the hypocrisy in college basketball.

Why must they stay for 2 years? Let a thousand flowers bloom. Let athletes go pro when THEY want to, not on the timeline of some mega-million coaches. Coach k is out for coach k.
