That has always been an all-women's school. The first men will arrive in the Fall of 2018. This would definitely help increase the number of males interested in attending. I lived a stone's throw from there for many years prior to getting married. Not the most impressive campus and it's definitely not UConn but they're making a go of trying to become a lot more than they once were. Reminds me a little of the Quinnipiac plan on a much smaller scale.

I, for one, wish them well with this ambitious change. (Their potential coach however...)

Maybe someone should tell him that D3 schools put the emphasis on the education over the sport. He can't have his kids taking "classes" like he did at UCONN.

The University of St. Joseph ain't exactly a NESCAC school. I don't think academic barriers will be an impediment to success for the first men's bball coach there.

I, for one, wish them well with this ambitious change. ( Their potential coach however...) If I were the type of person to hold a grudge, I would be very anti-Calhoun for using his clout to change HC's location in the Coaches vs Cancer tournament. Some may recall HC had a player who was (and still is) a cancer survivor and it was a good story for the tournament. Because it was a mid week thing at a tough point in the academic calendar (maybe last week of classes?) HC said they could only participate if they got the local site (Hartford). The tourney committee agreed and HC was scheduled for Hartford. Calhoun had no interest in the special prep required for a potential second round match up against the Willard defense and had HC switched to someplace like St Louis. HC said their original acceptance was contingent on staying local for academic reasons and would have to rescind their acceptance of the tourney invitation if sent on a long trip. HC replaced the spot on the schedule with U San Francisco. On the plane trip Alex VanderBaan really exacerbated some back issues he was having. Also, Pat Doherty injured his achilles during the game. Both key parts of that team were severely hampered the rest of the season. All of this after taking this trip that Calhoun set in motion Fortunately, I don't hold grudges.

Oh, thank goodness! I, on the other hand, as a former state of Connecticut property tax paying resident, have a hard time forgetting his arrogance about not willing to "pay back one thin dime" of his excessive salary when the state was having financial difficulty. It wasn't that he wasn't willing to give back anything, it was how he said it (e.g. Mom always said "It's not what you say, it's how you say it."). But, if he is going back to coaching, I am glad it as this level. And, as a Catholic Christian, I do hope he is in good health, which makes me feel better about what I wrote above.

Tom, Well said. You are a better man than I am. I remember all of that awful series of events. His fear let HC to a series of difficult events. I do ;t exactly hope a grudge. I do pray for his health, but never for his career. 84/85, Nice video clip!
