We actually don't need a new strategy for kids from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast as that continues to represent a huge portion of our admissions pool.
What we do need and progress is being made is on opening up new areas of the country and the world.
The good news is there are 31 kids from California in 30 International students in the Freshman Class which represents a nice jump 42 areas with significant upside.

Sorry but we should be able to get at least 5 applications from one of the better school localities in the country. And we still have way too many kids coming from one state--MA.

If not for our athletic recruitment our geographic diversity would be worse.

If not for our athletic recruitment our geographic diversity would be worse. I think you could safely make that same statement about every institution with an intercollegiate athletics program.

72 applied to Northeastern.
I think Bethesda magazine may do something similar for lower Montgomery County.

That is strange that no one applied. In our small Westchester County community of 13,000 people, we have 4 kids in the HC freshman class, 3 from our public high school and 1 from Fordham prep. I am assuming more than these 4 applied. Last year we had no one attend. This leads me to believe that it is hard to judge by one year, but having 4 high schools in Arlington County with no one applying does not look promising at all. I don't think HC has the name in northern VA that it has in New York and New England.

Chart only includes colleges that received 5 or more apps so HC could have got 1-4 from these schools -- still very weak imo, if so.

I just think it's because the Rams have a much better football team than the Hoyas.

Here is the list of schools at which HC is recruiting. admissions.holycross.edu/portal/fall_travel?c=&country=I looked at this last year and it would appear that it is more extensive than it was a year ago. I agree that our recruiting in the greater DC area should be better. It is one of the most successful metropolitan areas in the country with a strong economy, plenty of Catholics, and plenty of people who can afford to be full pay. Every full pay kid you admit allows you to improve financial aid to other kids. ncaam has been posting about the lack of recruiting in the DC area for some time and, on this issue, he is 100% correct.

We don't recruit in Cincinnati??? Unbelievable. There's tremendous opportunity here in Louisville as well--when I represented HC at the college fair here we got both applications and students who accepted.
