Got a little bit of separation in Week 2. Congrats to HC811215 who was our only perfect swami for the week! He can pick up his free Polar beverage of his choice at any of our participating concession stands at Fitton this weekend.
Very daunting OOC PL sked this week. I think it very well may be the toughest week top to bottom that I can remembah in PL football play.
Yale @ Lehigh 12:30 Marist @ GTown 1 Eastern Washington @ Fordham 1 Lafayette @ Villanova 6 Bucknell @ William&Mary 6 Colgate @ Buffalo 6 UNH @ Holy Cross 1:05

Yale @ Lehigh (First game for Elis and playing Mountain Hawks at home) Marist @ GTown (don't think this is Marist's year) Eastern Washington @ Fordham (EWU schedule says it is home game for them. Somebody's wrong and considering the EWU schedule says game time is 10:00 am, I have to believe it is in the Bronx. They've already played and lost big to Texas Tech. But . . . EWU's finished 12-2 and a perfect 8-0 in the Big Sky Conference a year ago and ended the year ranked fourth in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. Eastern advanced to the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs for the third time in the past five seasons, and 12th playoff berth overall. Twenty-one of 22 starters from last year return. Not that I am trying to influence anyone's picks.) Lafayette @ Villanova (probably not close) Bucknell @ William&Mary (we beat the Bison and doubt a game in Williamsburg will have a better result for them) Colgate @ Buffalo (we couldn't beat a lower tier D-IA UConn and doubt Buffalo is weaker than UConn. Good news is if it snows, both team will be prepared for it. ) UNH @ Holy Cross (just to ensure that I don't pick all the games right this week)

Lehigh (Yale opener otherwise I'd be undecided on this one) Georgetown (on a roll v Pioneer League, possible blowout) Eastern Washington (EW is a good team, Fordham unimpressive so far although its a long trip for the visitors) Villanova (should be an easy "V" win and possible blowout) William and Mary (IMHO Bucknell is awful and this could be a blowout) Buffalo (wrong week to play an FBS team, this might not be close) UNH (CAA seems to own PL)

Yale - Lehigh may be the PL team that leaves us scratching our heads this season. Maybe the defense hasn't improved much since the UNH playoff debacle. Marist - Toss up. Red Foxes picked up a win after a mistake-ridden blowout loss to Bucknell to open. Campbell not an easy place to play but Hoyas grabbed a W. Eastern Washington - Looks like Fordham O finally woke up in New Britain but the Rams defense stinks. 55-34 final in the Bronx. Villanova - The Wildcats steamroll. Pards left it all out there against a good SHU team last week but it wasn't enough. This one will be over early. William & Mary - Workmanlike win for the Tribe who hold the Bison to single digits. Colgate - Gate wins on a last minute FG. My gut tells me they are the best team in the PL. HOLY CROSS - Gilmore finally gets that BIG win we've been holding our breath for. Balanced offensive attack and a couple of timely forced turnovers carry the Crusaders. UNH feeling a bit of a hangover effect after having played (and beat) their archrival Maine and an FBS opponent their first two weeks.
NOTE: I was stingy and did not include a single PL team in my Week 2 AGS top 25 poll today (Gate was my second team out after Monmouth). However, should these results stand, I would have both Colgate and HC breaking into my rankings.

Lehigh (if they let this one get away, it will be a long year for Lehigh) Georgetown Eastern Washington (I want the Rams to turn things around for PL respectability...but I doubt it will happen) Villanova (not close) William&Mary (not close) Colgate UNH (picking UNH and hoping my selection is a bad luck omen that gives HC an upset)

The Yale at Lehigh game, as a couple of posters note above, pits the Elis in their first game of the season, perhaps with bugs to be worked out of their plans, versus the Engineers, who have two games under their belts and who should know what changes they should make to their O & D. Logic suggests that should be an advantage for Lehigh. I went back and checked Yale's last 10 seasons, expecting to see that the team often struggled in its first game of the season against its opponents with a game or two of experience. Instead I found that Yale is 9-1 in its opening games in the last 10 seasons. Of course, the first six of those games were Yale wins over Georgetown, but the next three games included two Yale wins over Colgate and one over Lehigh. The winning streak was stopped last year when Colgate destroyed a bad Yale team 55-13.

Sorry to break into your picks thread - but I can't remember a weekend with tougher opponents for the PL. Fordham, Lafayette, Bucknell are clearly overmatched and Colgate and HC have to play very well to have a chance. GU is the only favorite
