Just realized, not 1 senior on the team. When was the last time that ever happened? Don't recall it ever happening in the time I've been watching. This all started in Coach Brown's first year when a freshman Steve Carver got his bell rung in practice and was forced to give up basketball because of headaches followed by freshman Joe O'Shea transferring to Bryant to play for his uncle who got named head coach there. This left Dave Dudzinski alone in the class 2014. No transfers were brought in. No scholarship was sat on to balance the classes - both went to incoming freshman in the next recruiting class. When Dudzinski graduated, there was one scholarship available for the class of 2018 and that went to Mitchell Hahn. After Hahn's freshman year he transferred to University of Nebraska at Omaha. (reports vary but likely some combination of home sickness combined with disappointment about Coach Brown's termination). Once again that scholarship was given out right away. leaving the class of 2022 empty. At some point last year, freshman Tyrone Cohen left the school (I don't know where he is now). I am hopeful that the Cohen scholarship can go to a recruit for that class of 2022. I think that some sort of reasonable balance in classes makes it easier to minimize the rebuilding effect from bubble classes graduating.

I believe that Cohen's scholarship was the 6th one given out last year. Usually injuries and transfers eventually balance the classes out.

Coaches see scholarships as candy. Very difficult not to use right away. Scholarship #6 may be a game changer.

I stand corrected. Grandison didn't sign until the spring (after Cohen left). Which means barring transfer in or redshirt, we'll be having this discussion again in four years

One note: with the just graduated class of 2017, the former staff had planned on holding on to one of scholarships. Then Riley suffered his terrible injury, and after that RChamp took the last schollie. Had the injury not occurred, there would have been 2 guys in Mitch's class (if in fact Mitch had come - with Riley playing maybe Mitch chooses to go elsewhere).

Anyway you look at it, recruiting has been very weak, inconsistent and unbalanced over the past 6 years. I hope BC hit some home runs with this class or it will be a while before this ship gets righted.

I hope BC hit some home runs with this class or it will be a while before this ship gets righted. That is a fair assessment. KC was a home run, but others came needing time to develop. It will be interesting to see how far that has come along for our juniors. They each have a good upside potential, especially JF.
