Anyone else remember not too long ago when there was outrage on this board that HC had "descended" to the level of playing Monmouth? And in an yet another failed attempt to argue that the MAAC would be a huge step up in hoops, some of those same people cited Monmouth a school that alum would be excited to play every year?
Yep I remember that.
I also remember that the fourth quarter of the Monmouth game at Fitton was when Pujals bust onto the scene. We cut a 21-0 lead to 21-14 over the course of the last five minutes after he came in for either Laughlin or Elder, don't remember which.
It was around 2012 or 2013 that Monmouth applied for PL membership and was denied fairly swiftly.

As others have noted, Monmouth is doing something right on the football field the last several years and IMHO they'll be angling for CAA membership. Following the lead of Stony Brook who also played Big South until a spot opened for them. I'm sure some delusional Colgate fans initially balked at obscure SUNY Stony Brook on the 2008 schedule - till they got smacked around two or three times in a row. Wasn't part of any MAAC hoops discussions here but (IMHO) it does seem a better fit for HC than PL.

We often forget that Stony Brook is a state school. For whatever reason, decades ago, the state of New York decided that its university system would be decentralized with no huge single campus like The Ohio State University or UT in Austin, or Alabama or even UConn and UMass. That decentralization and smaller campi worked against a D-IA football team. But, SB seems to be doing it right in football, baseball and basketball and maybe other sports.

Colgate-- Raiders are 1-3 but have had toughest OOC schedule in PL. Cornell got pummeled by both Delaware and Yale, two good teams admittedly.
Harvard- Harvard has outscored Georgetown 110-20 in the three games they have played. Georgetown lost 35-14 to Columbia and could not beat Marist...
Monmouth--I went back and forth on this one. Monmouth is 3-1 with only loss to Albany. Bucknell's narrow win last week over Sacred Heart makes the Bison suspect.
Yale--Yale doubled its opponent's score in both games it has played aand could go over 50 points in Saturday's game. Fordham could win if Edmonds returns, but who knows if he will???
Lehigh--If ever there was a "must win" game, this is it. Lehigh's defense is abysmal, but Wagner is 1-3 including losses to Columbia (who may be better than is usual) 17-14 and 31-6 to St Francis PA. Only win was against D-2 St Anselm's.
Holy Cross- Crusaders should win this one easily.
EDIT: Thanks, chc8485--on my notes I had it that Bucknell had defeated SHU 34-31 and can't fathom why I typed that they had lost.

KY, my same picks and pretty much had the same rationale but taking care of grandkids, could not elaborate why I made my picks a couple of days ago. This will be the week I finally pick all the winners! P.S. I don't think Monmouth will have any trouble winning but do think that if Edmonds returns healthy, the Rams could pull off a win.

Bucknell's narrow win last week over Sacred Heart makes the Bison suspect. As does the fact that they were outscored in their previous two games by a combined count of 50-9.

Colgate Harvard Monmouth Yale Lehigh Lafayette Pak, with that Lafayette pick you are a true contrarian. Its great they have an edit button. Thank you for preserving it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what happens when I'm simultaneously doing IH's pool with one side of my brain, and the big money NFL pool with the other.

Best chance for an upset might well be Fordham (if Edmonds returns and can be effective).

Any word on DiNicola or Cozier? If not, keep an eye peeled for #83 or #1 suited up on the sidelines. Any observations are appreciated.

3,256 at RFK Memorial Stadium - Harvard vs Georgetown RFK looked cavernous and empty. Makes Fitton look packed today.
