HC sometimes does not post scrimmage information IIRC.

Although there may be such a thing, I never heard of a hockey scrimmage. Although it is not listed as such, I guess it could have been an exhibition

We beat Laurentian 6-0. Firing on all cylinders. Yet to see a score vs. Nepean Jr. Wildcats today (women's junior program out of Nepean in the Ottawa municipality, not a college). No posts from Twitter or Instagram

In other news, I think Maddy Norton has brought great energy and someone the girls can relate to. Katie Lachapelle is a great addition, great hockey mind, and a sense of how to build a winner with stops at Ohio State and BY. Could be the coach in waiting when our friend Pete VanBuskirk retires

I will likely be at least one of the games this weekend against RIT

HC beat the Nepean Jr Wildcats on Saturday 5-2. Considering RIT was well under .500 the last two seasons, 7-27 And 8-27, I think we have a good shot at a win or two. Should be a good series.
Fun fact: RIT assistant coach Shane Madolora was a standout goalie for the RIT men's teams that frustrated HC for years

They held their own tonight. A little sloppy in the neutral zone and at times they were forced off the puck by two much larger defenceman. Overall, the women matched up well against RIT (5 years at D1 means a jump on recruiting). No Salatas in net but freshman Pelletier played lights out at times and kept the score close. Should be another tight one tonight!

That is good to hear. I hope HC's being in D1 does bring about the boost in recruiting that some of you have predicted.

That is good to hear. I hope HC's being in D1 does bring about the boost in recruiting that some of you have predicted. Considering they're going from being a non-scholarship division 3 program to a Hockey East program with 18 scholarships, I think it is a pretty fair assumption that the recruiting will change dramatically.

Which one is the exhibition, Dartmouth or UNH? Dartmouth was the exhibition. They play again later in the season for real

Women down 9-1 against UNH in the closing minutes...ugly.

Although UNH had a losing record overall last year, they were .500 in a good Hockey East. This is the league we are diving into. They had solid D1 players on all 4 lines and rotated them through. We have always had some players recruited by D1 teams largely playing on our top lines, but we have no depth. Hope recruiting can bring in those quality d1 caliber athletes.

I know very little about the Chinese nation team, but seeing them get 20 more shots on goal than HC (19-39) is a bit troubling. 36 saves was a good performance by HC goalie Pelletier.

I have a co-worker who attended the UNH game. As you might expect, he said we looked really bad. Long way to go but it's going to take time to get to even a middle-of-the-pack Hockey East team given where we're starting.

Patience will be needed for a time...at least from the fans.

Not so much in this case and we are going from 0 scholarships to 18 over the course of the next four years. Especially in women's hockey where freshmen are often times ready to hit the ground running. Not saying that we are going to be beating UNH 9-1 in 2 years I guess is we will be far more competitive. Keep in mind also that our top two goalies are both busy this fall playing other sports and he is having to start a freshman right now.

Would take some very good recruiting for us to be a reasonably competitive, middle-of-the-pack HE team with no junior or senior scholarship players.
