to nht's comment - my thought exactly. Ralph Willard leaving suddenly in the month of June set off a series of events that led to two bad hires that HC is just now recovering from... all to help Pitino. Ralph, thanks for the championships but I'm worried that this guy was (is) your best friend, and to protect him, you dealt your alma mater a very bad hand.

Moved the thread in General Discussion here and merged the threads into one.
Carry on.

Doesn't exactly fall under a "discuss HC basketball here" topic, that's why I posted it in "General Sports".

Not a big deal and no worries ACTP. Been thinking about clarifying thread topics and including all college sport in the major categories so, for example, this one will become
Men's Basketball Discuss Holy Cross & College Basketball

Auburn, Pearl up to their eyeballs! But according to my local paper, Heron family says they're not involved:
"One of the coaches arrested was Auburn University associate head coach and former NBA star Chuck Person. Waterbury’s Mustapha Heron, who helped lead Sacred Heart High to three consecutive state championships, is a sophomore star at Auburn. Heron averaged 16 ppg. as a freshman and was named to the All-SEC rookie team.
'There is money involved with one or two players,' said Bryan Heron, 'but Mustapha is not one of them,' he said of his son. Bryan Heron said he had a look at 'a 32-page report, and it said there was money exchanged. I don’t know the players yet. I only saw it a few days ago.'
There are also accusations that players may have been guided toward agents and financial advisors, as part of a kickback scheme. 'I called Mustapha immediately,' Heron said. 'I asked him, "Have you had any meetings with anyone behind my back." He said, "No daddy." So, we are good.'"
I hope for their sake, they are right. But where there is smoke. . . . . .

The fallout from this might lead to the most serious challenge to amateurism yet.

If so, I wonder where he lands. Look at Calipari. Two final fours vacated and when he left Memphis in disgrace, Kentucky was waiting with an open door. It seems there's always a school out there willing to sell their soul to a cheating coach in hopes of garnering a bigger share of the NCAA spotlight
