the NCAA now allows coaches to run practices during the summer I heard that HC will begin workouts at the end of June for 6 weeks. According to the NCAA, six practices are allowed, one per week the two hours is broken up with 1 1/4 hrs on team skills and 45 mins on individual skill work i am unsure whether schools that have no summer school have the same allowances. HC70 wherever he is, should be pleased

I am sure that CBC will take full advantage of this.

I think the team has been using the gyms at some of the other colleges for unofficial workouts

Tom is correct. ADNP mentioned that HC would be using gyms at, IIRC, WPI, Clark, and Assumption for workouts, though he seemed to be saying that in context of when HC is back in session while work is still on-going at the Hart. .

The NCAA is funny. They allow teams to practice for two hours a week during the summer and then micromanage how that two hours should be allocated. Wonder how many hours it took them to conclude that 75 minutes of team work and 45 minutes of individual work was just right.

Wonder how many hours it took them to conclude that 75 minutes of team work and 45 minutes of individual work was just right. Given the efficiency of the NCAA, I would guess they were able to parcel out the 120 minutes of the two hours in about 20 hours (or more).

IRC taking my daughter to an interview at Villanova in the summer of 1988. I was struck by the number of basketball players walking around the campus and asked about it. I was told that they did most of their course work in Villanova's summer session to lighten their academic load for the season presumably to a minimum required.
How common is this in the PL? Which schools have summer sessions that would allow alot of course work to be complete in the off season?

Under Patriot League rules, all athletes must be "full-time" students, as defined by their college for all students. Athletes can lighten their load by taking summer work - but not by that much or they would fall into the "part-time" bucket and not be eligible.
