Against Teaneck, Kelly had 15 points (including 3 of 4 from 3 point range).

The North Jersey MVP Nominees have been announced, and HC-bound Kelly Petro is a finalist. Here is the write-up on her nomination:
Kelly Petro, Pascack Valley
An excellent leader and manager of the game, the Holy Cross-bound Petro led the Indians to another huge season by averaging 8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 4.5 steals with less than two turnovers per game.

Very unusual stats is she a point ? if so, terrific rebounding stat if not, somewhat low ppg

6'1", probably not a point guard, scoring average a bit concerning

at 6'1" doubt she played the 2 position in h.s. - unless someone has other info, none of our 4 recruits received any accolades on the recruiting websites (not that such attention is always justified) - and from prev posts on this thread, we know that lehigh and lafayette have both signed '3 star' recruits for their incoming class.
Is there anyone who ranks recruiting classes by conference ? I'm hope Gibbons is getting better talent with the Luth to sell, but I have some doubt. If not, there's another reason to worry about this program. 4 consecutive losing seasons and 7 of the last 10.

She did play point in a number of games and is a very good defender. She has a very good 3 point shot - but typically did not have to use it often.

Certainly ridiculous NJ no shot clock is a major factor in those horrid scores, and low scoring averages

There's only 9 states that have a shot clock
Mass, California, Maryland, New York, RI, North & South Dakota, Washington ....and (upcoming) Wisconsin.
Not nearly as many as I thought.
I'm in Mass; generally like it although if it were up to me, it'd be 35 or 40 seconds, not 30.
One dumb throw back that I can't figure out. In girls b-ball, at least in Mass., you don't have to bring it over mid court in 10 seconds. Actually think that works against some teams...they are so deliberate bringing the ball up they don't get into their offense until 17-18 seconds left on the clock.

New York is 35 seconds, works well. New Jersey has terrific HS boys(I do not know about girls) hoops talent, rated stronger than NYC. The only drawback for players, fans, and college recruiters is the lack of a shot clock

I would agree with that. It can hurt some of the teams with better and deeper talent by cutting the number of possessions.

rgs, I know you are bullish on Kelly's talents coming to HC. For those of us who don't live in NJ, how did she fare in the post-season 'all' teams ? bring us up to date.

Well, Kelly was first team All-Bergen County (along with senior teammate Brianna Smith). Her team (Pascack Valley) was ranked #2 in North Jersey Public Schools behind Saddle River Day school.
Senior teammate Brianna Wong and Junior Brianna Smith made All NJ Group 3 (no mention of Kelly). They each scored over 1000 points to grab the headlines. Kelly has averaged in the 8-10 pt range/game for the last 3 years. Last year Kelly was picked for 3rd team all-NJ. I have not yet seen the 2018 All-State selections.
PS: There were three top players on PVHS. Their names were confused on some of the post-season teams. All three were named to first team All-Big North. They had: Briana Wong Briana Smith and Kelly Petro (Kelly was listed as Kelly Smith on some teams)
