Bump - For those of you in Central Ma, come on down and hear what the coaches have to say For the out -of -towners, 95 percent of what is said will likely be repeated in the radio broadcast at 7:00. Unfortunately, you'll need to be there in person to see Coach Carmody roll his eyes at a NAD question. It's only been going for two years, but already seems like a time honored tradition look forward to reading the reports from those who can attend!

Thanx Nate praising the Luth....will reach out to former players and a committee...Carmody/Charles....already spoke to Worc Club...gotta get something out of JR class...consistent....never coached a team without SRs...it's OK...Karl ready to step up...BC says he can be a leader...helping younger guys...not difficult to teach BC style...MP playing hard....KC has to be leader...ignored PB as a frosh...PB earned his minutes....expecting PB to do well...Stevens injured...CLS streaky, won Army game last year, may be in rotation....JF has matured, not gonna be foul prone, better...frosh shooters? KC says all can shoot...PL? Buck, Navy, BU are the usual suspects per BC....vets are important( ??)...Luth helped frosh recruitment already...locker rooms were not up to snuff for last 10 years....attendance? exciting when full like BU last year per KC...recruiting? get the good guys...BC not a good salesman, he says...schedule? BC not sure about trip to Ireland, nice tourney, challenging opponents...Sacred Heart? Ready? Not close says BC, putting things in and get better at them, practice important

Sounded serious and sincere. I think I have picked up on it as well. He’s a great coach but recruiting is not his forte.

I hope we find out that it is more accurate to say that recruiting is "not his favorite thing to do" . He may not enjoy it but he could still be good at it....

I liked the way he deferred to Charles on some questions about the younger players. BC clearly wants to build leadership in him and the other juniors. I also liked his description of Floyd. He was an atlete but now we need his to be a complete layer and to be able to be in the game for us at key times (not limited to 16 minutes due to fouls).

The only freshman mentioned was Caleb Green..Coach was talking about pushing the ball, and mentioned how PB and Caleb are fast with the dribble and now there are players who are fast and can run the floor..

I survived! I'm redeemed! Fun time with Coach. Only problem it is so hard to hear him. Part way through he asked "can you guys hear me?". We responded with a no, and he says "Well, WHY didn't you say so!". Then Dick L. mentions holding up the mike properly, and he gets a "Gee, thanks Dick!!" Anyway, DiMarz got the big "get that sh@t out of here" when he asked Coach if he would specify which frosh were earning his trust. He did later mention CG. Hopefully other will fill in the blanks, but a few things.........he brought up George Allen's mantra of The Future is Now when describing his expectations of the freshmen. Made one crack about let's not wait till you're 35 to develop. Was encouraging to hear him report that Ziggy was coming along. He speculated that maybe he put too much pressure on Z regarding shooting (coming in with a rep for shooting), instead of just letting him play. Sounds like JF is starting to assert himself ("maybe he had been deferring to others"), but then reminded us that he was currently performing against freshmen. JS has some type of shin issue; has missed the last 4-5 practices. In quickly scanning the schedule, he joked (I think!) that he was having trouble finding 5 wins. Asked about running a little more off of turnovers, he felt it was possible because overall it seems there are now more guys that can get from circle to circle. Me redeemed? Well, he himself brought up the guy who had asked last year about staying away from AAU players because it was a "cesspool" . I remember how hard Coach tried to tell the gentleman that everyone played AAU, even "good Catholic kids". People laughed, and I think some guys started pointing at me. I said "no way!". Coach looked at me and said, "no, it was an old guy!" Back in his good graces! I think he is looking forward to coaching these guys. He did chuckle when answering a question about recruiting for next year. He reminded us that he had this group for the next 2 years, and that could be good......or bad.

Just so there is no confusion. There were in effect two events last night. The "in person" Worcester Club event that NAD speaks of and the internet/video that ncaa is probably speaking of. Some went/observed both events, some just one or the other. So I am guessing that when ncaa says Carmody didn't mention freshmen, he is probably right and when DiMarz says CWC mentioned CG, he is right too.
Hopefully, I can find a replay of the on-line talk with Lutsk to see what he said there.

Methinks a mention of CG portends a 5’10 and 5’9 starting G duo

I agree based on what I’ve seen too. Neither as fast as AT so handle will be tested. Both can score against our guys. Who will be backup? Z? Other starters? Maybe JF KC and Grandison. Off the bench AB KC MF? I see CLS Niego and Stevens getting few minutes.

If I had to bet on starters (and I know "most playing minutes" is a more important measure than "starting") I'd say KC, PB, and JF are 100% to start. After the three easy choices I think MP stands a very good chance; if not him perhaps MF in the front court if we want to go taller. Finishing the back court I'd have guessed AB, but the talk of CG is interesting. This is a fascinating season to contemplate and I am prepared to be way off base in these projections

Pure speculation on my part, but I think the four returning juniors (since Perkins didn't play last year, I'm not calling him "returning") will start. Even though I know traditional roles don't matter as much in this style, I can't see big minutes with Benzan, Zignorski, and Green all on the floor together. Some minutes, yes - big minutes, no. I'm guessing Green as third guard behind Benzan and Zignorski with the 5th starter being some other freshman with a little more height. Simply, my guess. I might alter this guess after next Wednesday evening (or Saturday if NAD doesn't get caught sneaking into the Stonehill scrimmage)

comments about underestimating PB are interesting...word from a very knowledgeable source, not on the staff, is that PB has worked hard on the 3 over the summer.

I'm a huge fan and made PB my avatar in the middle of last season. If he were to add an outside shot to his existing facility for penetrating and scoring near the basket it would be a huge plus for the team. That may be yet another "wild card" for this HC team that already has a bunch of them. Here's four to consider: Marcellus Perkins--is he in good health and ready to contribute a lot as a junior? Jehyve Floyd-- can he cut back on the fouls and be a big defensive presence for 20+ minutes per game? Caleb Green-- Ready to go as a freshman? Austin Butler--can he shoot as often/as well in college as in high school now that he faces a much faster tempo and bigger & quicker opponents? I'll suggest that his toughness/competitiveness are givens
