When Ches does leave, he's going a LOT better place than UMess. I guess it’s obvious but I totally agree with this. Really found myself waking up today less upset over the loss and how we played than so impressed with Chesney and every aspect of their coaching. The team is so fundamentally sound, very disciplined in terms of not making mistakes or having stupid penalties, save for the taunting ones which I think are only when the team senses the game is getting out of reach. The play calling and halftime adjustments are amazing. It leaves me with the question of what is the appropriate next step for an excellent PL coach? Dave Clawson went to an upper tier FCS school (Richmond) as his next step. Moorhead went P5 but took the OC spot. I’m not sure what’s both compelling for him based on where he wants to go as well as what is available to a PL head coach? I do have to say that a really smart AD somewhere will be considered a genius if he takes the gamble on him at a higher level school. He’s really impressive Classy commentary. When these games end, as was shown by the Fordham players and coaches on the field yesterday after the clock hit 0:00, most of the Fordham and Holy Cross students and alums are cut from the same cloth. We want to beat the other team, but it’s just a game, and on Monday morning, the vast majority of us go back to being good folks who received an excellent education from the Jebbies. All the best to you, blockofgranite. See you next fall in Worcester. (I hope we win!)

Excellent points. What really, really impressed me was despite the taunting and rough play during the game, afterwards both Crusaders and Rams seemed to genuinely appreciate the other team and had respect for the other. There were smiles, hugs and apparent genuine warmth between the two teams. I know that some on our team have roots in the NY metro area and suspect so does Fordham and that some of these players were either teammates or foes going back to high school days and certainly this was the 4th time some of them played against each other in this "classic" game. So, those connections really count in a game like yesterday.
We know from pre-game interviews that our guys respect the heck out of Tim DeMorat (and let's hope and pray that he wasn't seriously hurt) and there was the interview with John Smith all about how he respects not just DeMorat but Rans receiver DeQuence Carter.
I just wish that Fordham would become a full-fledged member of the Patriot League as any trophy for all-sports would mean a lot more against them than BU.
Oh, also glad no one got hit by lightning!

The AD at Holy Cross who hired him gets no credit for taking the gamble I give Pine credit. I also wonder if FADMB was football unfriendly or was faced with a coach and program that is ready to go 100 miles an hour but Marcus had to be the one to tell them the HC-mobile can only do 65 right now but he's working on it. That's why I'm in favor of the other Major sports coaches, all with losing records, completing their contracts and saving any buy-out money to have as much resources as possible to retain Chesney and staff and invest in our one winning program.

I'm sorry but if this "nation-wide search" ends with a guy who can get to HC via the Consortium van from across the city of Worcester, I will be very disappointed. He's obviously a good coach but there has to be literally 1,000s of guys across the country more qualified/experienced at the D1/FCS level. All he has known as a head coach is coaching at lower division schools before 100s of people at games. Our next head coach will be coaching before 45K in Chestnut Hill next September, have to recruit nationally, roughly given the keys to a program worth 100s of millions if you take in the Luth, yearly expenses, the college's brand etc etc....

So let me get this straight ... the guy who wants us to recruit more “local” kids, is upset that our national search may have yielded the “local hot kid” ... who’s been successful largely by recruiting “local” kids??? Hmmmm. There's a difference between recruiting the best 5-10 kids in Mass. than the next 50 that play at the non-D1 level...but I think you knew that.

Question: what was the purpose of "bumping" that post years later?
Everyone on this board has been dead wrong about something we've posted about on here.
87 has been one of the biggest supporters of the program and Chesney during this enjoyable run. And during that coaching search, it was obvious he was pulling for his own classmate to get the job, which is totally understandable.

The amount of speculation in this thread is mind-boggling. If Chesney’s the guy, let’s all support him and start focusing on catching up on recruiting. Hopefully his staff or at least the coordinators will be named quickly so we can start recruiting. Assuming Pine won’t let him bring his whole Assumption staff with him and will insist on some guys with FCS (and preferable Ivy or PL) recruiting experience on the staff. For the record, I like the Chesney hire if it is him. Might take a couple of years but I have a good feeling about it. Glad to see I was on board with the Chesney hire even if he turned around the ship more quickly than I expected.
