While not trying to be a captain obvious, we are an upperclassman-dominant team. 7 of 7 mentioned in the preview. Very experienced - that should be a good thing:
"Senior quarterback Peter Pujals has led the Crusader offense by completing 167 of 307 passes for 1,914 yards and 12 touchdowns. Senior wide out Blaise Bell has posted 35 receptions for 437 yards and five scores, while junior wide receiver Martin Dorsey has caught 24 passes for 360 yards and two touchdowns. Senior tailback Gabe Guild leads the Holy Cross ground game with 275 yards on 60 carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, junior linebacker Ryan Brady leads the team with 76 tackles, three sacks and eight tackles for loss. Senior linebacker Nick McBeath has added 65 tackles, three sacks, nine tackles for loss, two interceptions and a fumble recovery, while senior defensive tackle Jack Kutschke has recorded 31 tackles, three sacks, 10 tackles for loss and two pass breakups."

Strange that fields will not be open until 10:30 for tailgating with a noon start. Could this be a reaction to the rowdy homecoming crowd a few weeks ago? We better eat quickly.

Where did you see that the fields do not open until 10:30? Could not find that on the web site anywhere.....

Where did you see that the fields do not open until 10:30? Could not find that on the web site anywhere..... I got an email for President's Council weekend and it contained the following message: If you have requested football tickets, they have been mailed to you. Please note that the parking areas and fields around the football stadium will open at 10:30 a.m. I emailed to make sure it wasn't a typo and was told they open at 10:30, both freshman field and baseball field.

Awful, awful decision making. 1:00 start times are tough, but unavoidable with lights. Moving up to 12:00 before Daylight Savings Time is just plain stupid. Tell the "Watch Stadium Network" to take a hike if they want to move game times around. The damn service doesn't even work. Combine that with only 90 minutes of tailgating for an overall grade of: F- This administration has pounded the football gameday experience into the grave.

Wow. Its literally impossible to grill and eat your food if the parking gates open at 10:30 AM for a 12 PM game. And we wonder why attendance isn't good.

What's the rationale here? Even for a 1PM kick, doesn't tailgating begin at 10AM?

My only guess as to why 12:00pm is because of the presidents council dinner that evening. My suspicion is that the homecoming crowd was perceived as getting a little out of hand before the game. I ended up parking in Freshman field and was directed not far from the small bleachers on the Williams side of the field. It was pretty wild in that area (at least for a Holy Cross tailgate). I could see shortening it from 3 hours to 2 and 1/2 but not to 90 minutes. By the time you park and set up you will have less than an hour to cook and eat before you will be "encouraged" to leave the field.

Published tailgating procedure is that lots open 3 hours prior to kick-off.
Past practice is that gates to stadium open 90 minutes prior to kick-off - which would be 10:30 for the noon start.
I suspect this is just a miscommunication somewhere and that lots will open at 9:00 and gates will open at 10:30
Also worth noting that only the President's Council people got this E-mail. IF this is true they need to publicize a lot better or they're going to have a traffic mess blocking Southbridge St with all the cars that show up for 9:00 and sitting in line

I won't even attempt to guess why the late start for tailgating but the game is probably starting early for the President's Council as those attending both the game and the PC event often want to go back to their hotel rooms to "freshen up" and to change into their black tie regalia.

What strikes me about the 2-deep Colgate team roster are two things.
1. Not one of their starting offensive lineman weighs in at 300 pounds or more and their running backs are shortish (5' 8-9") but solid (205-210 pounds) so they will likely be "hidden" behind their taller linemen and we've seen this before from them. 2. Their defensive linemen are also "svelte" and not very heavy but they make up for it with 3 of their 4 starting linebackers tipping the scales at 230 pounds or better. Our LBs are much lighter.
I expect that this will be a "typical" HC-'gate game with them running and us passing.

Dom gave us the 24-14 lead at the half but we couldn't stop the run. They ran out the clock as they drove down field with under 2 min to go in the 4th and won by the XP, 28-27. I would like to think our "swarming" defence from the first part of the season will actually be able to make an open field tackle this week.

The Holy Cross football team returns home this weekend to face Colgate in a 12:05 p.m. contest at Fitton Field. The game between the Crusaders and the Raiders will be shown by Stadium and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester. I'm sticking with my original theory that parking was opening at 9:00 all along and there was a mix-up in the communication to the presidents council between parking lots opening 3 hours before game time and gates opening 90 minutes before game time (10:30). Basically business as usual at Fitton this weekend except earlier kick-off to accommodate the deep pockets like sader1970 and CHC8485

You must be confusing me with my son, though I am still advocating that Tuition Room & Board payments by alumni should count toward President's Council membership! Unfortunately, and I'm not sure why, each of the 2 or 3 members of the administration I've mentioned it to, chuckle like I'm joking.
