It's about time HC started attracting (paying) upper echelon assistant coaches. Great work ADNP and HCBC.

Scott in March ...
“I am proud of our accomplishments on the court, in the classroom and in the community,” Scott said in a statement.
Scott’s dismissal caught many people by surprise.
“Joe is a really good coach,” said Northern Colorado coach B.J. Hill. “I hated to prepare to play his teams. His players always played hard and to win.”

Scott was the subject of a notorious KenPom article a few years ago - his Denver clubs were often the slowest-paced teams in D1. Nothing wrong with that if the offense is efficient. Statistically, Scott's teams, not surprisingly, mirrored Carmody's in categories like possessions per game, assists per FGM, and low rebounding %. Should be a good bench guy/alter ego, but probably doesn't fill the recruiting void. Interesting comments from Scott last year on the new shot clock. onlyagame.wbur.org/2015/11/21/shot-clock-princeton-offense-ncaa

That’s a fallacy. What makes people interested in a game is good basketball being played."

And a lawyer as well Great for an assistant to have such experience as a head coach will not hurt in recruiting Could give us inroads into the west with his long experience at Denver his roster had 6 players from Colorado, 3 from Texas 16-15 this past season, 7-9 for 6th of 9 in Summit league replaced by his assistant, Rodney Billups, Chauncey's brother wonder why he left Air Force of the Mountain West after winning the league for .Denver of the Summit and seemingly a lesser conference ? $$ ?

Guess they agree on this one ...
What makes people interested in a game is good basketball being played. That’s the way that I feel about it, and if you want to make the regular season more important, then regular season champions of the leagues should go to the NCAA Tournament.

this is an incredible addition to the coaching staff! seriously, joe scott might be the second most experienced/qualified HEAD COACH in the patriot league when you consider how long and where he has coached... and we've got him as an assistant on our bench! scott has brought his teams to both the ncaa and nit as a head coach and is still only 50 years old. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Scott_(basketball)#Head_coaching_recordvery, very well done by adnp and coach carm!

as for the "recruiting void", scott is a tremendous coaching upgrade over kevin driscoll. there is no comparison between the track record and ability of the two. in addition to scott, i also find it a little disrespectful to owens and kennedy as if they simply fetch the coffee in the morning. ask every basketball person in america not affiliated with the mb hype machine and they will tell you scott is an upgrade over driscoll.
to be honest, the sky is falling stuff when driscoll left was laughable. driscoll seemed like a nice guy who might have a bright future someday. but really, he was pretty average at hc at best. he was probably the second most over-hyped entity on crossports, following jahad proctor... the most over-hyped player i have ever seen on any message board in any sport.
we were clearly seeking a different level of pedigree and track record on our bench and now we've got it. i imagine they had to pay scott to get him (good sign from the athletic department) and i would also imagine that the assistant job was sweetened by the fact that he could be our heir apparent as head coach if things go well and the program continues to progress.
success at our level starts on the sidelines, and it is a great day to be a crusader basketball fan!

I like just about everything I hear from this guy: “Fundamentals are the most important thing in this game,” Scott explains. “As long as you’ve got guys who can dribble, pass and shoot — and they’re tough and they’re smart — you can compete against anybody.”

By the way, outstanding hire!
So, we now have the two best coaches in the league?
Seems like ADNP opened the checkbook for this one.

Welcome Coach Scott!
I see dado beat me with the initial thought I had: possible part of an eventual succession plan?
With the limited pool of available players, I too think it's nice to expand the territorial coverage.
Let's go!

wonder why he left Air Force of the Mountain West after winning the league for .Denver of the Summit and seemingly a lesser conference ? $$ ? As I recall comments on the Ivy boards at the time of his return to Princeton, it was not the most harmonious of returns with respect to coach-player interaction. (He replaced JT III). He also rostered 21 oe 22 players at Princeton. I expect there will be comments on the Ivy boards with respect to his hire.

NAD, I agree on both points. A former head coach with a similar pedigree and philosophy as CWC, makes a lot of sense.
As to the expansion of recruiting territory, I'd be willing to bet that Fr. Boroughs has made it known to Nate and Coach Carmody that one of the long-standing goals of the College was to expand the geographic diversity of Holy Cross, especially the west. Getting players from there and the publicity it generates about Holy Cross is a win-win for the team and the school.

As a player, Joe Scott scored 809 points at Princeton, playing sparingly as a freshman, then getting 200+ points each of the next three years. He led the team in steals as a junior and senior and was an excellent three point shooter (59 for 152= .415) when the arc first came into play when he was a senior.
