Sound was a bit of a challenge tonight at Compass Tavern, mostly for Coach Carmody, who I am not totally sure wants anyone to actually hear his answers anyway.
The one question to Bill Gibbons that stands out in my mind (only because I am the one who asked it) was whether Geno has been intimidated enough not to play Holy Cross ever again. BG said that he spoke with Geno and they have an agreement to play HC every 3 years so that each class at Holy Cross will have at least one opportunity to play the Huskies before they graduate.
Thanks, Tom, for doing his usual masterful job as emcee.

Thanks 70, In the EEI interview, BG mentioned that the front court is pretty banged up and only Manis & Dixon are healthy and seemed to suggest Locke (although I could be over-reading is remark) is pretty much done due to a knee injury. Did he mention the health of any of the other players?

I think you mean 'Nixon' above. Locke's loss is not significant, she has been an example of questionable recruiting recently - (I am sure she is a fine young woman but) a non-contributor from day one. If you look at the roster, it is overloaded with guards and injuries to frontcourt players will be a big problem. Gotta keep Manis healthy, if so, we have a chance to recover a bit from last season's disappointment.

I am just not familiar with the ladies on the roster anymore. I do recall him saying that he thought we would be playing a 4-guard game due to injuries.
I've heard BG for years and no matter what the situation is he talks positively and about the importance of "team chemistry." That said, my impression was that this will not be a championship season or anywhere close to that. While I hope I am wrong, I suspect I am not.
I gotta admit, I was really focused more on the men's team. BG is much more open while skewing positive than CWC and CWC did his usual "I know but I'm not going to tell you" routine with his off-speed pitch being playing like he really doesn't know, when you know he does or he wouldn't be coaching all these years with the success that he's had. Someone described him like Belichick which they meant in a positive way. You get nothing from him.

Nixon it is, Yes, Locke has been a non-contributor, maybe due to the fact she's had I think two knee surgeries & one shoulder in the previous 2 years?

BG did talk about players with ACL injuries and also one with bad shoulder injury, both required surgery and rehabbing. Don't recall which was which but just that the impression I got was that at least for now neither was 100% and would impact the season results.

I know that Hasenauer and Swords were injured for much of last year. Any discussion of the new freshman big (Shannon Murphy)? Or of the other freshman (Jenay Faulkner), who I am expecting to be a very good player for HC?

Did trigger another memory. Said that the walk-on from last year (sorry, don't remember name, think he said she is from Chicago) is the best "open shooter" on the team. The implication seemed to be, and the presumed reason she is a walk-on, is she has to be open and can't make her own space to get free.
Again, not familiar with names and took no notes but BG was very high on the freshman who was all-state from PA.

That would be Pedi, on the show BG suggested she was going to start the season in the regular rotation.

3 straight losing seasons, and I'm smelling another one even though a very light ooc schedule has been set up along with the usual mediocre league competition. He's in his 33rd year and I really hope BG has another run in him but the trend is not encouraging. Please surprise me !
