Since the report in the telegram last year that we were a possible lock for HE, we have heard nothing! Did the mighty Railers knock HC down for the count? What up ADNP??

I would think that by now we should have a answer to the question, "Are we going to join HE " or is there a problem with scheduling at the DCU center?

A school cannot publicly discuss any ongoing efforts to leave its current conference for a new one so we will never hear anything from the College unless/until we have a signed deal to join Hockey East.

Spot on. Are people thinking HC should be leaking information on discussions out to the press?

Since the report in the telegram last year that we were a possible lock for HE, we have heard nothing! Did the mighty Railers knock HC down for the count? What up ADNP?? Perhaps one of the sources of the confusion on this board about the status of HE's interest in H.C. is the mischaracterization here of what the Telegram actually originally reported relative to the claim here : " we ( H C ) were a possible lock for HE."
It's easy for readers to be confused about this fictitious HE-H.C. deal represented by some on Crossports professing "inside knowledge" or having had casual conversations with ADNP or with "donors," who are unburdened by a timetable, trying to pull the pieces together "somehow." I'd try to reconcile the alleged "lock" with Telegram's actual reporting and USCHO.COM's express refutation that there is any deal. 1. www.telegram.com/sports/20160914/holy-cross-hockey-could-be-moving-to-hockey-east-dcu-center2. www.telegram.com/sports/20160927/full-steam-ahead-for-railers-holy-cross-hockey-east-plot-futures3. . uscho.com/2016/09/14/report-holy-cross-to-replace-notre-dame-in-hockey-east/ "UPDATE (Sept. 15): Citing sources with knowledge of the situation, USCHO has learned that Hockey East has not approached Holy Cross and Holy Cross has not applied for membership in Hockey East."

The fact that Holy Cross has not “applied” to HE is meaningless. They know what a successful application requires (primarily DCU access). Until they have that, they will not “apply” but they can still be actively working on it behind the scenes with both HE and the City. The application may be a formality if we can check all the application boxes. If not, no need to file a fruitless application.

I heard the women "might" be playing a D1 schedule back my freshman year, 2007-2008. Only took 10 years! Patience...patience...patience I guess

Wow - paid attendance was 2130. I would assume Halloween kept it lower than we'll see going forward. If Sharks can be any gauge, weekend games will also draw better than work/school nights. Only the second home game. First game artificially high attendance, second game artificially low. They are home Fri/Sat/Sun this weekend with no Pats on Sunday. Those games will be more telling of how they'll draw going forward. By comparison, HC's listed attendance vs Dartmouth was 1409

From last night's Railers game It will only get worse for this team. Cliff Rucker can open up all the ancillary businesses he wants this team will fail by 2020.

2130 IMO is a good crowd for a minor league hockey team on a weeknight, halloween and in October. Sure there were really only 800 people there. Sharks and IceCats never really drew until December.

There is a story in the Courant today about UConn's planned on campus arena. You will recall that there is twenty year old arena, the Mark Freitas Ice Forum, in Storrs now. UConn men played there until they joined Hockey East. The women still play there. It has about 1900 seats. UConn men have been playing in Hartford at the XL Center. I could not find last year's attendance figures but in the year before they averaged 4300 per game which was quite close to BC and BU and 15th out of 50 D1 schools. PC only averaged 2400. The proposal is to build a 2500 seat arena on campus and still play many men's home game in Hartford. The league has apparently granted them some sort of waiver as to the requirement for a 4000 seat arena. This may mean nothing as to HC's chances in joining the league other than to show that apparently some rules are meant to be broken. www.courant.com/sports/hockey/hc-sp-uconn-board-of-trustees-committees-discuss-financial-plan-for-ice-hockey-arena-20181029-story.html

Breaking rules to drop down to 2,500 seems a lot different than dropping down to 1,100.
The Railers, meanwhile, are drawing well; those waiting for the shoe to drop with them attendance-wise are having to wait longer than anticipated. Bully for them.

They need to join Hockey East. It would draw really well. Games at the DCU Center. It will happen probably in like three years. If they don't have it by 21, I will be surprised. Still would be a BU hockey fan though.

Follow up article in the Courant about the new arena, HE requirements, etc. for UCONN. www.courant.com/sports/hc-sp-benedict-thoughts-hockey-arena-20181031-story.htmlThe league's concern about an off campus facility is scheduling flexibility. The AD also says they need the facility to compete for recruits. This would be consistent with what BC said about Luth as it relates to the men's hoop team. As an occasional fan of the UConn men's hockey program, I would love a small rink on campus that might get loud with students with easy parking as opposed to going to a cavernous XL Center.

Is a HE capacity arena on campus a pipedream? We found $80mil for a whole athletic center could we find $45mil for one on campus as well? Freshman Field could be a suitable spot with a parking garage on Southbridge Street.

Freshman Field could be a suitable spot with a parking garage on Southbridge Street. In the short term, the plan is definitely to play off campus at the DCU. Not sure how developed (or not) a longer term plan is to develop the ability to play on campus through Hart expansion or new construction. Once we’re actually in HE, it might be easier to raise meaningful funds for an on-campus barn.
