I am always underwhelmed when it comes to the fcs playoffs - lousy weather, small crowds and little interest except for families and friends.
but there will be games and it looks like the mountain hawks will be practicing when every other team will be home celebrating Thanksgiving.
Here is a look at projected first round games and the top eight seeds with byes (I know 'who really cares here?')

UNH’s only OOC loss- to HC Yes a bad loss for the Cats but it’s what happens when you don’t take your opponent seriously.

HC also had all of their starting defensive backs in that game.

That would make them feel better about losing rather than giving the opponent the credit they deserve. Why you take their biased word as gospel is a puzzle. You are usually much fairer.

I’ll be following my brother at San Diego.
Last year they ended up playing North Dakota in the dome in the 2nd round after beating Cal Poly.
Never would have thought San Diego would present a higher level of Football than HC.
They have an excellent program and Dan Lindsey is a phenomenal coach.
Pretty sure they have decimated every in-league opponent this year.

I talked to two coaches and parents of a few players. It happens. I see it on this board every time the Cross loses a game. Most folks here never credit the opponent but bash the team, how awful things are, the sky is falling etc. If UNH comes to play and Holy Cross comes to play I like the Cats chances. It didn’t happen and you got a nice win on that day which due to the tailspin the Cross went into has become a really bad loss for UNH.

When a team has only 11 games, they should “come to play” them all.Poor excuse for any loss for any team. Surprised that 2 coaches in a strong program would say that. Does not reflect well on them or their players.

Looks like UNH is heading back to the playoffs. As usual.
(HC had two real upsets this year. UNH which went their way and Lafayette which did not.)

I actually had a solid feeling we were going to catch you guys by surprise that week for the upset. UNH started the season with a tough conference game, and a rivalry at that, versus UMaine. And week 2 was a road trip to FBS Georgia Southern, who you guys defeated rather easily. Tough to get up for a third straight week and play at your peak, especially against a squad hungry for revenge.

Were you on the team that flew out to USD or was that before you began playing at Holy Cross?

Great FCS program. If things work out perfectly for Holy Cross we are hoping to be at that level in five years.
(I saw UNH in person at SBU - in all honesty this is not the best UNH team I've seen. Good, of course because the program is so solid, but not nearly the best.)

I remember that being generally a pretty tough experience just bc of the time difference and we actually only flew out on a Friday because they didn't want us missing classes -- Connected in Atlanta and then got in around midnight our time then played a night game there the following day so the timing threw us off. We lost in triple overtime when they converted a 2 point conversion. Harbaugh was the coach.

Strange day in the CAA today as Albany shut out UNH 15-0 and Villanova beat Delaware. UNH and UD now both 7-4 and sitting on the edge of the FCS playoff bubble. Stony Brook cemented themselves as an at-large lock by beating Maine with a Hail Mary. I think Lehigh may end up playing there in the first round.

Speaking of the bubble, Monmouth down 38-21 to Kennesaw State in the third quarter in the de facto Big South Championship Game. They would be as deserving as a 7-4 CAA team IMO. Their "bad loss" to Albany looks a little less bad now that Albany shut out UNH today.

I posted UNH shutout v Albany on our pick'em thread and figure they are on the fence for a bid. They're hoping to go for number 14 in a row, IMHO they're not quite as good as they have been. Probably either Delaware or UNH will be the CAA's 4th and last selectee. . SBU finishes 2nd outright in CAA (behind JMU) and top 8 in nation overall so they should have a run of some sort in the playoffs. IDK if they'll face JMU early or not.

While not going to the playoffs, Yale wins the IL championship outright for the first time in 37 years. And the field at the Yale Bowl was an embarrassment in this day and ago. More dirt than grass. Lehigh's field, also grass, looked great in comparison. And the weather was no different at the two games.
Very big crowd in New Haven though.

The kids stormed the field. Footing on the sloppy grass field was definitely an issue.
