Tom, how do you screen an 18 year old to prevent something stupid from happening in the future? Devin Brown began his career at HC as a potential "problem player" Why would you say that?

Kevin Ollie out at UCONN, potentially “with cause” (no buyout) amid NCAA investigation. Losing = Just Cause. Have no problem with them firing the guy in general. But that's pretty hypocritical.

Some need more supervision than others. Supervision for 24-7 is not possible That’s where the importance of creating a strong culture becomes very important, with players also holding each other accountable when the coaches can’t do everything. Based on the last two years, that does not appear to be the case right now.

There is also an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations at present. If serious violations can be proven, then there would be just cause.

Pitino should go back to his roots and coach St. Dominic's High School in Oyster Bay, NY. That program is in shambles right now.

Tom, how do you screen an 18 year old to prevent something stupid from happening in the future? I don't know. However, from the Harry Truman school of thought, on some level the staff has some responsibility for the actions of their charges Also, I was responding to a comment that Pitino might run a cleaner program than the current regime based on a couple of incidents the last two years. I was trying to say that even viewing the HC staff in the worst possible light, their actions pale in comparison to the actions of the Louisville staff

Danny Hurley’s name being mentioned for Uconn and Pitt He's a hot name right now, but he's resisted previous offers to leave URI. Maybe someone pries him away this year, but I don't think either of those opportunities are compelling enough to lure him.

Hard to see him being any hotter than he is now, provided he beats Davidson today. He loses Matthews and Terrell. Hard to keep dominating that conference. Pitt could be appealing—nowhere to go but up. There will be other openings in the coming days.

I think UConn is a more attractive job than Pitt. Yes, Pitt is ACC but it's a much tougher hill to climb to even get into the top half of the conference there.

If the Uconn administration is to be believed, they may be facing NCAA sanctions Maybe that, maybe UConn trying to trump up minor violations to try to get out of paying 10 million to Kevin Ollie. Could be reaching a new level of absurdity where teams play up violations to fire their coach for cause.

I don't think either UConn or Pitt is that appealing at the moment. Both also face financial constraints in how much money they can offer Hurley, given the size of the buyouts they're likely paying. (And yes, I know they're both attempting to fire for cause... good luck with that.)

Tom Crean hired at Georgia. Seems to be a trend in the SEC with veteran, out of work coaches with prior power conference experience landing gigs (Crean, Ben Howland, Rick Barnes, Bruce Pearl).
