I understand the money is much bigger at UCONN (and that's obviously a major factor), but that doesn't really strike me as a great job right now. With unrealistic expectations from their fans that they are still in the Old Big East and some very difficult competition with Gregg Marshall, Mick Cronin, Kelvin Sampson, etc. in that conference, I wouldn't be surprised if Hurley waits it out at URI until a better job is available. The problem is that URI loses most of their key players from this year's team. It's possible that they fall back to the middle of the pack in the A10 next season. May be difficult to find a bigger and better job next year if they miss the NCAA Tournament and have a record hovering around .500. He has the 30th ranked recruiting class coming in next year (per 247), including the 70th ranked player in the country, so if he can parlay this attention into a raise from URI and continue his success for the next 1-3 years (even if there is a slight step back next year), he may have much better opportunities than UCONN and Pitt (especially given the potential of a mass exodus of players from Pitt's already depleted roster).

Padgett gone. Might we like a guy like him someday? Chesney + Padgett could put our two premier sports on a totally different trajectory. It would be a no-brainer if we could land him.

Louisville can command a top grade coach. We have to hire someone on the way up.

We already have a top grade coach Because I did this with FCMB and it's only fair to remain consistent: 42-56

What about Padgett's coaching has impressed you the most--- player development, recruiting, X's & O's??? - Young & hungry with something to prove
- Played at the highest level in college hoops
- Coached under a Hall of Fame X's & O's coach, who was tremendous at developing talent, and very demanding of his assistants
- Stabilized Louisville in a very tumultuous situation -- receiving high praise across the board from people who followed the team
- Will get the attention of recruits
- Not afraid to hire a staff of guys who aren't all "yes men"
The first bullet is most important -- we desperately need someone who can come in and provide the energy needed to rebuild the culture of the program. Two years with serious disciplinary issues (including the potential of major NCAA violations) is just completely unacceptable. And that doesn't even account for all of the losing.
To turn the program around, we need someone who is "on the way up" not someone "on the way out."

Every thread The same drivel Just because you don’t agree with it, doesn’t make it drivel. it has little to do with whether one agrees or not at this point, as it becomes drivel when it is the same regurgitated pollution of every... single... thread. their perspective might be interesting if there were new perspectives posted, but that’s just not the case.

Nothing short of a winning record and a top-four finish in the PL (with a strong showing in the tournament) is acceptable next year. Don't know how anybody here could have lower expectations than that.

Not same.....talking about the direction of a coaching change down the road....see Chesney which is a new direction....shouldn’t we be planning for CBC to be retiring in 2-3 years?

Nothing short of a winning record and a top-four finish in the PL (with a strong showing in the tournament) is acceptable next year. Don't know how anybody here could have lower expectations than that. With a "top grade coach," one of the best players in the league returning, a PL that finished 27 out of 32 conferences this year and with the only team in the top 200 of KenPom's rankings losing its 3 best players, the expectations should be top-two and challenging for the championship the entire year.
