you don't need 4 or 5 yrs to determine if someone is 'in over his head'... but it might be 4 or 5 yrs before you can act if that is the case... I expect that ADNP focused on this in evaluating FCBC... this doesn't mean that he won't have a learning curve in some phases of this job, like recruiting Learning curve? recruiting is a dance with admissions; it will be interesting to see how fast they get in tune

I will support Chesney to be successful like any alum or fan. Hey, I supported Kearney and Brown in hoop for most of their tenures here. The one coach I had a problem with (since joining CROSSPORTS ovah a decade ago) was Gilmore...just felt that he was all wrong for the program, particularly when we returned to scholarships.
I just felt that Lee would have brought more intangibles to the program than Chesney.
Welcome Coach Chesney....let's just say, you're going to have your work cut out for you. Good luck.

You wouldn't be happy unless HC moved to Tuscaloosa, played in the SEC, and won national titles with several, daily specials on CBS/SEC Network, ESPN, NPR, with Time Life periodicals mailed out nationwide. Backhanded compliments are thinly veiled. Regardless of who you may think was better, this is what we have. The indications are widely speculated that this is a good hire in many regards, on its own merits. Good luck coach. I wish you the best.

87 - do yourself and everyone else a solid and go over to Big Dan's, grab a pitcher of Stroh's, shoot a few games of 9 ball, and clear your head.

As this will be my last post, request from family, I will say that the early reports are Coach Chesney brings a positive energy to a conversation that is palpable, should be a recruiting guru, the kids are excited as should we be. This is everything I've heard (and witnessed as an outsider) as well. Agree that this year's recruiting could be a bit off with the coaching change and timing, but I'm excited for the future.

I realize that I am new to this forum. It's great to see enthusiasm around the program that we haven't seen or felt in a while. On the surface, it looks like a great hire. I haven't read one negative detail about Chesney from anyone who has worked with him. Personally, I am excited about the possibilities. Challenges will present themselves down the road, no doubt. We will all see how those are handled. for the first time in years I am excited to see what happens over the next 12 months. Chill on the negatives guys. Im sure we will all have plenty of opportunities to 2nd guess next year. For now, Go Cross. Best of luck coach Chesney. Time to turn things around and become relevant again.

And I'm tired of listening to my son, who played at Colgate, give me grief about how many consecutive wins Colgate has vs HC. Time to end that streak
