Sure - I guess I've mentioned this before, but I'm just always surprised how confident you are with your hot takes given that you have zero experience playing or coaching college football. I'm certainly not interested in ice cream and lollipops (as evidenced by my criticism of several aspects of the program), but I also don't feel the need to weigh in and negatively speculate on every thread just for the sake of maintaining my image as the poster board curmudgeon. It's very hard if not impossible for someone with your level of experience to be "realistic" -- No one needs to be reminded of your mom's cousin's brother at Bentley who won a D2 game in 1997 or whatever... Yeah....OK....if you played football at Holy Cross when it was actually a serious endeavor, I may take your input in a more important manner.....Holy Cross really hasn't played football at a level most alumni would like to see since 1991...it's not your fault, you just played football at Holy Cross when hardly anyone cared I'm sorry, but I disagree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. Just because 6sader7 played at HC during the period between the scholarship eras does not, in any way, make his opinion any less valid. That's a silly conclusion to make. Way, way off base on this one 87. EDIT: I suppose I should have read the rest of the thread before chiming in, but everybody needs to put to rest the "you did/didn't play X so your opinion is/isn't more/less valid." If that was the case, no AD in America at any level could make a completely educated coaching hire.

There are probably some former pros who think you have to have played in the NFL to analyze football related topics. That is just ridiculous.

Thanks. He again stresses collaboration. This seems to me to be a key component of modern organizational management. In my experience, some older professionals still lean toward a top-down approach, whereas younger guys like Chesney see approach things in a more collaborative, project or goal-based manner. The best leaders are also firm when they need to be and obsessively detail-oriented. Once the gold standard, the hierarchical structure has become less efficacious in the modern era. Not to say he won't kick but when people don't live up to their responsibilities within the organization.

Thanks for posting. The host's perception of Holy Cross versus Assumption was rather shocking. He made it sound as if Assumption was a better, more important athletic program than Holy Cross - a perspective that was shocking to hear. "I certainly knew what you were doing at Assumption, but I wasn't paying attention to what was happening at Holy Cross."

Good interview....he continues to say all the right things...now he has to put those in place. He has a tough job ahead of him (as we all know here for the most part)...it's not 1987 anymore, the HC subway alumni has largely moved on or have left this mortal coil. Going to be a struggle to reengage the Greater Worcester region in HC sports in this day and age, but he may be the guy to get this going again. Gordie totally stole my "we skipped/lost a generation of fans" btw.... but I forgive him during this season of giving.

One factor I have not seen mentioned is that we have only 5 home games on the next 4 year’s schedules.

Got a note from an old pal whom I have a lot of respect for. He was one of Chesney’s former bosses years back. He wrote in part: “HC got a great one! Coal region work ethic with a great ability to recruit. A home run hire.”

Just reinforces:1. his proven track record and 2. having met with him personally. He's a great hire. Now, if he gets the resources he needs this program can be turned around . . . . hopefully within a season or two.
